Med student held without bail in Craigslist death

BOSTON — A Boston medical student has been ordered held without bail on charges that he fatally shot a masseuse he had lured to his hotel through Craigslist.

Twenty-two-year-old Philip Markoff said nothing during a brief hearing Tuesday.

Prosecutors say they found a semiautomatic weapon at his home, as well as ammunition and materials exactly like those used in an attack on another masseuse in Boston.

Markoff is charged with murder in the death of Julissa Brisman of New York City and kidnapping and armed robbery in the other assault.

Markoff’s attorney, John Salsberg, did not immediately comment.
