Bopanna-Qureshi in doubles quarters at Bangkok

May 6th, 2009 MUNICH - India's Rohan Bopanna and American Travis Parrott defeated Spain's Nicolas Almargo and Argentine Sebastian Prieto to move into the quarter-finals of the 450,000 euros BMW Open tennis. The fourth-seeded Indo-American pair beat Almargo and Prieto 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 here Tuesday.

May 5th, 2009 NEW DELHI - India's tennis sensation Yuki Bhambri's maiden ITF title win last month has helped the teenager jump 619 places to a career best 839 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. Yuki won back to back ITF tournaments and his first win was only taken in account for the rankings this week.

April 8th, 2009 CHENNAI - The Davis Cup tie between India and Australia, scheduled to be held here May 8-10, will be played during the day, notwithstanding the searing summer heat, All India Tennis Association (AITA) secretary-general Anil Khanna said. According to Khanna, the Indian players have asked for a 10 am start of the tie despite the oppressive summer heat and humidity in May.

March 29th, 2009 KORAT - The top seeded pair of India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi clinched the $50,000 Korat Challenger here Sunday. The India-Pakistan pair won a hard fought final against the fourth-seeded Ratiwatana brothers -- Sanchai and Sonchat -- of Thailand 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-5.

March 26th, 2009 BANGKOK - India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi were given a fright by the Indian pair of Purav Raja and Ashutosh Singh before advancing to the doubles semifinal of the Korat tennis challenger here Thursday. The top-seeded India-Pakistan pair beat Purav and Ashutosh 4-6, 6-3, 13-11.

March 25th, 2009 KORAT - India's Somdev Devvarman and his South African partner Izak Van Der Merwe were beaten 4-6, 3-6 by second-seeded Russians Evgeny Donskoy and Dmitri Sita in a Korat tennis challenger doubles quarter-final Wednesday. Somdev's run in the singles had already come to an end Tuesday when he went down to Russian Alexandre Kudryavtsev 5-7, 3-6.

March 22nd, 2009 BANGKOK - The top seeded pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi have been ousted from the $50,000 ATP challenger here. The India-Pakistan pair were beaten 6-7(4), 6-7(5) in the semi-final by third-seeded Russians Michail Elgin and Alexandre Kudryavtsev.

March 20th, 2009 BANGKOK - India's Rohan Bopanna's run in the $50,000 ATP challenger was ended by Noam Okun of Israel here Thursday. Bopanna, who made it to the main draw as a qualifier, went down 6-4, 3-6, 3-6 against Okun, another qualifier.

March 18th, 2009 BANGKOK - India's Somdev Devvarman and Prakash Amritraj crashed out of the first round of $50,000 ATP challenger while Rohan Bopanna advanced to the second round here Tuesday. Somdev, seeded eighth, blew the first set advantage to lose 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 to Austrian Martin Slanar while Prakash lost 3-6, 2-6 to Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

January 23rd, 2009 MELBOURNE - India's Mahesh Bhupathi continued his surge in the Australian Open doubles as he advanced to the third round with partner Mark Knowles of the Bahamas at the Melbourne Park here Saturday. Third seeded Bhupathi and Knowles overcame a spirited challenge from Russians Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov 7-5, 7-5 in an hour-and-a-half.

January 22nd, 2009 MELBOURNE - India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza dispelled a second-set fightback from Czech Kveta Peschke and Pavel Vizner, winning six games in a row, to upset the sixth seeds 6-2, 6-4 in the first round of the Australian Open mixed doubles here Friday. It turned out to be a succesful day for the Indians in the men's doubles too with Leander Paes advancing to the third round and Rohan Bopanna moving into second.

January 5th, 2009 CHENNAI - Somdev Devvarman kept Indian interest alive as he advanced to the second round of the $450,000 ATP Chennai Open tennis tournament with a 6-3, 6-3 win against American Kevin Kim, here Tuesday. Devvarman's success made up for the disappointing exit of qualifier and Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna who was beaten 4-6, 6-7 (3) by Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan earlier in the evening.

January 4th, 2009 CHENNAI - Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna qualified for the main draw of the $450,000 ATP Chennai Open tennis tournament that commenced here Monday with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win against Germany's Michael Berrer in his final qualifying round match. Bopanna built his game around his big serve as he sent down 15 aces as against four by Berrer who also committed four double-faults.
