BJP demands judicial probe into baton charge on leaders

September 16th, 2009 VARANASI - Police on Wednesday resorted to a baton charge angry Samajwadi Party workers who were protesting against the Mayawati Government's policies. The incident took place when Samajwadi Party activists went to hand over a memorandum to the district magistrate.

August 26th, 2009 New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI0: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday accepted the findings of the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) giving clean chit to Delhi Police in the Batla House encounter case and declined to institute a judicial probe into the gun-battle. A Bench headed by Chief Justice A P Shah rejected the plea of an NGO, 'Act Now For Harmony and Democracy', seeking judicial probe in the case on the alleged ground that the NHRC has failed to conduct a proper probe.

The officer in charge of the local police station has been suspended and Rs.100,000 ex-gratia payment has been announced for the family of the victim, an official statement said.

March 23rd, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - A judicial probe has been ordered into Sunday's police firing incident in Orissa's Dhenkanal District that left one person dead and several injured.ccording to an official statement released on Monday, the officer-in-charge of the local police station has been suspended, and 100,000 rupees ex-gratia payment has been announced for the family of the victim. "A judge of the rank of district judge will conduct the probe," the statement said.
