Bhupathi-Knowles in Dubai Tennis Championships quarters

May 2nd, 2009 ROME - The Indian challenge in the 2,750,000 euros Internazionali BNL d'Italia tennis tournament has ended with Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi bowing out with their doubles partners. The third seeded pair of Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy lost 5-7, 3-6 to the fifth-seeded pair of Brazilian Bruno Soares and Zimbabwean Kevin Ullyett in the quarter-final.

May 1st, 2009 ROME - India's Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles breezed into the semi-final of the Internazionali BNL D'Italia tennis with a 6-3, 6-4 win over the sixth-seeded Polish pair Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowksi here Friday. The fourth-seeded Indo-Bahamian pair next play second seeds Daniel Nestor of Canada and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia.

The third seeded Indo-Bahamian pair was defeated 6-7 (2), 4-6 Thursday in a hard fought battle.

March 15th, 2009 INDIAN WELLS - India's Mahesh Bhupathi and his partner from the Bahamas Mark Knowles reached the second round in men's doubles but it was the end of road for Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Chia-Jung Chuang at the BNP Paribas Open here. Bhupathi-Knowles, seeded third, overcame an initial challenge from Russians Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov before winning 7-5, 6-3 Friday.

February 1st, 2009 NEW DELHI - India's Leander Paes jumped three places to the seventh spot while Australian Open finalist Mahesh Bhupathi stayed at the sixth position in men's doubles in the latest Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) rankings Monday. Paes reached the semi-final with Czech Lukas Dlouhy where they lost to American Bryan brothers Bob and Mike, who went on to beat Bhupathi and Mark Knowles of Bahamas to claim the title.

January 30th, 2009 MELBOURNE - India's Mahesh Bhupathi failed to add to his four men's Grand Slam doubles title when he and Mark Knowles fizzled out after a great start to lose the Australian Open final to American twins Bob and Mike Bryan here Saturday. The second seeded Bryan twins crawled back from a set-down to overpower Bhupathi and Knowles 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 in an hour and 38 minutes at the Melbourne Park here.

Third seeded Bhupathi and Knowles overcame a spirited challenge from Russians Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov 7-5, 7-5 in an hour-and-a-half.

January 8th, 2009 CHENNAI - Top seeds Mahesh Bhupathi (India) and Mark Knowles (Bahama) made their exit from the doubles competition in the $450,000 ATP Chennai Open tennis tournament here Friday, losing 6-3, 3-6, 8-10 to the Swiss combination of Jean-Claude Scherrer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-finals.
