Manufactured by compiling global standards, the metro train is a four-car formation, comprising two driving trailer cars and two motorcars with a capacity to carry 1,506 passengers.

July 10th, 2009 BANGALORE - The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is all set to manufacture indigenously designed low-cost metro railway coaches for Mass Rapid Transport Systems (MRTS) in the cities. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, V R S Natarajan, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML said, " The BEML has furnished a turnkey proposal to the central government to facilitate the execution of supplying the low-cost rakes to the two and three tier cities where the metro railway network is envisaged." July 9th, 2009 BANGALORE - State-run Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) posted net profit of Rs.268 crore in fiscal 2008-09 as against Rs.225 crore the year before, registering growth of 19 percent, the listed company said Thursday. Net sales, however, grew by 10 percent to Rs.2,797 crore last fiscal from Rs.2,540 crore in 2007-08.

July 2nd, 2009 MUMBAI - The government has approved a proposal to revive or restructure 15 loss-making public sector enterprises (PSEs), Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said here Thursday. "Based on recommendations of the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE), the government has approved implementation of revival or restructuring packages in case of 15 PSEs," Deshmukh told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

July 1st, 2009 TORONTO - Canada's Bombardier, which is the third largest civilian aircraft maker and global leader in rail transportation, Tuesday announced the world's biggest sale of rail streetcars. The Montreal-based Bombardier, which supplies coaches to Delhi Metro, said it has signed a contract worth $851 million to supply 204 state-of-the-art streetcars to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

April 26th, 2009 NEW DELHI - With the metro increasingly becoming the choice of city's commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has ordered extra coaches to be attached to some existing trains to increase the passenger capacity, an official said Sunday. Eight more coaches have been ordered by the DMRC to be added to four trains.

February 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Bombardier Transportation, a unit of Germany-based train maker Bombardier Inc, said the first of the 424 Movia cars ordered by Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) has arrived here Thursday on an Antonov freight aircraft.
