Bad weather stops Palin visit to Valdez

VALDEZ, Alaska — Officials say bad weather has caused Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to cancel a visit to Valdez.

Heavy fog surrounded the port city on Monday, preventing the governor’s plane from landing.

Palin was to have signed two bills in Valdez related to fisheries and tug escorts for loaded tankers traveling in Prince William Sound. She instead signed the bills at her Anchorage office Monday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the governor says the event has not been rescheduled. Palin has said she will resign July 26.
