The Indian team has a tight summer schedule which includes the Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia, in April and the Asia Cup in Dubai in May, it was announced Wednesday.

January 18th, 2009 MAR DEL PLATA - Deepak Thakur scored a brace as India beat Argentina 2-1 in the first hockey Test of the four-match series at the Panam National Stadium here. Thakur slotted goals in the 18th and 41st minute while Argentina pulled back one through Matias Paredes in the 65th minute of the match Sunday.

January 12th, 2009 KARACHI - Pakistan's hockey officials are making desperate attempts to line up quality matches for the national team in a bid to prepare it for the Asia Cup in Dubai in May. After pulling out of a four-nation hockey tournament in India because of the prevailing Indo-Pak tensions over November's terror attacks in Mumbai, Pakistan invited Malaysia for a Test series in February.

January 8th, 2009 KARACHI - Pakistan's hockey officials are considering inviting India for a Test series on an offshore venue later this year. Qasim Zia, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president, told IANS Friday that the PHF has discussed the idea of playing matches on neutral venues with India and other major hockey-playing nations in a bid to revive Pakistan hockey.

January 7th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Buoyed by their success in Argentina, the junior hockey team is hopeful of a good show in the four-nation Australian Youth Olympic Festival to be held at the Olympic Stadium, Sydney from Jan 14. Coach A.K. Bansal said the team is in a good shape following their 15-day training stint with the senior team in Bhopal.
