May 11th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Sitting Amroha MP Harish Nagpal, who is again contesting the polls as an independent candidate, has been booked for violating the model code by distributing lunch packets to voters, police said Monday. J.K Sharma, Delhi's joint electoral officer, said that for these polls they have been receiving complaints on violations of the model code of conduct from different political party leaders, but most have been on frivolous ground.

April 13th, 2009 BHOPAL - A Congress candidate in Madhya Pradesh was arrested Monday for organising an election meeting at a government building allegedly without seeking permission from the authorities in violation of the model code of conduct. April 2nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Election Commission Thursday issued a notice to Anant Kumar Hegde, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Uttar Kannada, for making inflammatory remarks in a poll meeting. The poll panel said it has come to its notice that Hedge conducted a election meeting in Mundgod in his constituency March 21, where he made a statement that 'if Muslims do not stop violence, it will be difficult to celebrate Id-Milad'.

March 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Election Commission Friday issued notice to Imraan Kidwai, who heads the Congress party's minority cell in Chandigarh, for his alleged inflammatory remarks during a campaign speech. The poll panel has asked Kidwai why action should not be taken against him for violating the model code of conduct.

March 26th, 2009 PATNA - Nearly 500 cases of violation of the model code of conduct have already been reported in Bihar in the run up to the April-May general elections, officials said Thursday.
