Aircel launches Delhi operations

October 1st, 2009 New Delhi,DELHI - Aircel became the first operator to sign a passive infrastructure sharing agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Aircel, the fastest growing operator, which currently has approximately 32,000 base stations, will now have access to approximately 45,000 BSNL towers across all its circles.

September 17th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Telecom major Aircel has signed a $400-million tower sharing agreement with Datacom Solutions, part of the Videocon group, the companies said Thursday. According to the deal, Datacom, which holds a licence to roll out mobile telecom services but is yet to launch operations, can use at least 5,000 Aircel towers for 16 months.

September 3rd, 2009 KOLKATA - Telecom operator Aircel has launched a new product in Kolkata and West Bengal that allows subscribers to pay per second, instead of the present tariff of charging by the minute. Under this plan, the base tariff for any Aircel subscriber will be one paisa per second both on local and long distance national calls, said Vipul Saurabh, the company's national head of operations and customer support, Thursday.

May 21st, 2009 NEW DELHI - Hyundai Motors Thursday launched an LPG variant of its popular mid-sized sedan Accent, complementing the existing petrol, diesel and CNG variants already available. Dubbed the 'Accent eco', the car with a bi-fuel capability will be available for Rs.533,390 ex-showroom in Delhi, about Rs.35,000 costlier than the petrol variant.

March 13th, 2009 HYDERABAD - Telecom operator Aircel Thursday announced it will invest $5 billion over the next three to five years to expand its operations across the country. Aircel, part of Malaysia-based Maxis Communications Bhd, will invest $1 billion this calendar year, and expects to nearly double the existing subscriber base of 17 million.
