3 women murdered in Goa raises fresh safety concerns

September 27th, 2009 SRINAGAR - In a startling revelation, the gynaecologist who conducted autopsies on the bodies of the two women who were raped and murdered in south Kashmir's Shopian town has admitted that she did not take the vaginal swabs of the victims but submitted samples of other women, sources here said Sunday. According to the sources, the gynaecologist, who had submitted two slides purportedly prepared from the vaginal swabs of Nilofar Jan, 22, and her sister-in-law Asiya Jan, 17, confessed before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team probing the case that the samples had instead been taken from other women in the maternity ward of the Pulwama hospital where she was then posted.

September 17th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - The disfigured bodies of an unidentified couple who appear to have been brutally murdered have been found in a forest area in this satellite town of the capital, police said Thursday.
