254 candidates file papers for Chhattisgarh’s 11 seats

September 25th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Haryana assembly election next month is headed for a bigger contest than in the past with 1,874 candidates filing their nominations till Friday evening. Friday was the last day for filing nominations for the 90 seats.

September 22nd, 2009 CHANDIGARH - Two ministers of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in Haryana have filed their nominations for next month's assembly election even before the ruling Congress announces the list of candidates. Forests, Environment and Tourism Minister Kiran Chaudhary Tuesday filed her nomination papers as the Congress candidate from Tosham assembly constituency in Bhiwani district.

Mukherjee is contesting from Bankura, where his rival from Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Basudeb Acharia filed his candidature Thursday.

Acharia, the party leader in the outgoing Lok Sabha, is seeking re-election from Bankura constituency.

March 31st, 2009 HYDERABAD - Over 300 candidates from different political parties as well as independents have filed their nominations for 22 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, poll officials here said Tuesday. These parliamentary constituencies along with 154 assembly segments spread over 14 districts in Telangana and north coastal Andhra Pradesh would go to polls in the first phase on April 16.
