2 killed in crash of small plane at Fla. airport

LANTANA, Fla. — Authorities say two people are dead after a single-engine plane crashed into an unoccupied aircraft on the ground at a south Florida airport.

Fire-Rescue spokesman Don Delucia says the crash happened Wednesday morning at Lantana Airport in Palm Beach County.

He says it appears the plane lost power and was making an emergency landing when it struck the parked plane.

The impact caused the landing plane to spin around and come to rest underneath a storage trailer.

Witness Brad Colson told WPBF-TV that he saw the plane “coming in way too fast.”

No one on the ground was injured. The cause is under investigation.

Authorities say 68-year-old Jack Howard Henderson and 78-year-old James Donald Breazeal were killed in the crash.
