16 killed, 40 injured in Pakistan road accident

September 18th, 2009 FATEH JHANG - Seventeen people were killed and 55 others wounded Friday in a head-on collision between two passenger buses in eastern Pakistan, a media report said. The accident occurred on the Pindi-Kohat road in the Fateh Jhang tehsil of the Punjab province, the Online news agency reported.

September 17th, 2009 MUZAFFARABAD - Thirty people were killed and 40 others injured Thursday when the passenger bus in which they were traveling veered off the road and fell into a deep ravine here in eastern Pakistan, a media report said. The accident took place near the Meera Degree area when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn, the police said.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 25 people were killed and over 20 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday, police said. Twenty passengers were killed on the spot and five of the injured succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 20 people were killed and 26 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday, police said. The bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu, around 1 p.m.

September 3rd, 2009 RANCHI - Six people were killed and 20 injured when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a ditch in Gumla district of Jharkhand Thursday afternoon, police said. According to police, the bus had nearly 40 passengers when it went off the road while passing over a culvert at Baghima village, around 145 km here.

August 23rd, 2009 LIMA - Nineteen people, including three women, were killed Sunday when the bus in which they were travelling veered off the road and fell into a ravine in southern Peru, media reports said. The accident occurred near the Quichuas town in southern Huancavelica province.

August 17th, 2009 ANANTAPUR - Six persons were killed and ten others injured in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district late on Sunday night. According to police, accident took place at around 11:00 p.m.

June 12th, 2009 LA PAZ - Twelve people have been killed and several others injured when the bus in which they were travelling veered off the road and fell into a deep ravine in Bolivia. The accident occurred Thursday in the central Bolivian region of Cochabamba.

April 25th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Two people, including an eight-year-old student, were killed and 10 schoolchildren injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with another bus here Saturday morning, police said. 'The bus carrying students of the La Martiniere School collided with the public roadways bus on Faizabad road,' Superintendent of Police (Trans Gomti) Ashok Prasad told IANS.

April 20th, 2009 PUNE - At least 19 people were killed and more than 15 others were injured in a road accident that took place around 40 kilometres off Pune on Monday. Among those killed in the accident, six were women and eight were children.

April 9th, 2009 RAIPUR - At least 12 people were killed and about 40 injured in a road accident late Wednesday in Chhattisgarh, the police said. The tragic incident took place in Durg district's Pasuli village when an overcrowded van returning from an engagement ceremony collided head-on with a truck.
