12 injured in Bihar train collision

October 7th, 2009 PATNA - A passenger was killed and at least 50 injured when the Amritsar-Katihar Amarpali Express express train derailed in Bihar, police said Thursday. The engine and seven bogies of the train derailed late Wednesday between the Pasraha and Gauchari railway stations near Naugachia, about 160 km from here.

September 7th, 2009 PATNA - Five armed policemen who failed to act when robbers looted handicapped passengers on a train have been suspended, authorities said here Monday. Armed robbers Saturday looted nearly a dozen handicapped passengers, and shot and injured one of them on the Danapur-Howrah express train in Bihar.

May 20th, 2009 JALANDHAR - At least four people, including three children, were killed and several injured Wednesday morning when their school bus collided with a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Punjab's Jalandhar district. The bus, belonging top Akal Academy school, had picked up the students from their homes and was taking them to school Wednesday morning when the accident took place near Gumtala village in Jalandhar district.

May 20th, 2009 JALANDHAR - Three children and the driver taking them to school were killed Wednesday morning when their bus collided with passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing in Punjab's Jalandhar district. Fifteen children were also injured when the Akal Academy School bus that had picked up the students from their homes and was on its way to school met with the accident near Gumtala village near Jalandhar.

April 30th, 2009 CHENNAI - The elite Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) of the Tamil Nadu police will probe Wednesday's train collision in a Chennai suburb that claimed four lives, officials said Thursday. Additional Director General of Police Archana Ramasundaram said a special team had been formed to investigate the matter.

February 16th, 2009 DHAKA - At least eight people were killed and dozens others injured Tuesday as a train collided with a truck in northwestern Bangladesh, the police said. The accident occurred at around noon at the Khasiabari level crossing in Joypurhat district, some 280 km from the capital Dhaka, killing the eight victims on the spot, said inspector Noor Hossain at Joypurhat police station.

December 24th, 2008 PATNA - Suspected Maoists Thursday attacked a passenger train in Bihar, killing a policeman and injuring two others and escaping with some arms and ammunitions, officials said. Government Railway Police (GRP) sources said a group of Maoists attacked Muzaffarpur-Bhagalpur intercity train near Bariyarpur in Lakhisarai district, about 150 km from here.
