11 militants killed in Pakistan

September 1st, 2009 PESHAWAR - At least 42 militants were killed in fighting with security forces in the Khyber Agency region of Pakistan, Online news agency reported Tuesday. The report said 50 other militants were captured during search operations in the same area.

September 1st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - More than 100 militants have voluntarily surrendered to the security forces in northwest Pakistan, the army said in a statement Tuesday. The Pakistan Army said 105 militants voluntarily surrendered in the 24 hours to Tuesday evening in the Swat region of North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

August 31st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Fifteen militants were killed in fighting with the security forces in northwest Pakistan, officials said Monday. The security forces also captured 22 militants during search operations in the Swat and Malakand districts in the past 24 hours till Monday evening, the Online news agency reported citing a statement of the Pakistan Army.

August 18th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Pakistani security forces have arrested 34 militants in northwest Pakistan, the army said in a statement Tuesday. The militants were captured during search operations in Swat and Malakand division by the security forces and pro-government militias in the past 24 hours to Tuesday evening.

August 4th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Three people were killed and six injured in a clash between militants and security forces in northwest Pakistan Tuesday, a media report said. Militants attacked a security forces' camp in Miranshah in North Waziristan and in the ensuing fighting three people were killed, Geo TV reported.

July 31st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Six militants were killed and several rebel commanders surrendered to the security forces during a search operation in northwest Pakistan, officials said Friday. The operation was carried out in the Swat and Malakand divisions of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

July 18th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Seven militants were killed and 11 injured in an air attack by security forces Saturday in northwest Pakistan, a media report said. Fighter jets bombarded the hideouts of militants on receiving a tip-off regarding presence of Hakeemullah Mehsud, the leader of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban, in Upper Orakzai Tribal Agency, GEO TV reported.

July 16th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Eight militants and two soldiers were killed in fighting in northwest Pakistan, officials said Thursday. In the past 24 hours to Thursday evening, the security forces have killed eight militants during search operations in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and in the neighbouring areas, the army said in a statement.

July 4th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Twelve militants were killed Saturday after security forces bombed their hideouts in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said. Combat helicopters and fighter jets of the security forces have destroyed three militants' hideouts in the Orakzai tribal agency near the Afghan border, reports said.

June 29th, 2009 MIRANSHAH - At least 15 militants and a security personnel were killed in fighting in South Waziristan area of Pakistan Monday, the Online news agency reported. The fighting started when the militants fired a rocket at the camp of security forces in Razmik area, killing a security personnel and wounding five others.

June 12th, 2009 PESHAWAR - Twelve militants were killed in a clash with security forces in northwest of the country, a media report said Friday. Sources said 12 militants were killed and four security forces personnel were injured in fighting in Shaikh Baba area in Mohmand Agency, Geo TV reported.

May 31st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 40 Taliban militants have been killed in a clash with security forces in northwestern Pakistan, according to a media report Sunday. The gun battle occurred in South Waziristan on the border with Afghanistan following an attack on a paramilitary camp Saturday night, the Dawn reported citing an intelligence source.

May 2nd, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 16 militants were killed in clashes with the security forces in Pakistan's Mohmand agency bordering Afghanistan, TV reports said Saturday. The fighting started when the militants attacked a security checkpost in the Spinkai Tangai area, some 25 km from Ghalani, the headquarters of Muhmand Agency, the state-run PTV said.

May 2nd, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Pakistani troops killed up to 60 Taliban militants in the northwestern valley of Buner, raising the insurgents' death toll to more than 100 in four days of fighting, an army spokesman said Friday. 'Between 55 and 60 militants have been killed during the last 24 hours in Buner,' Major General Athar Abbas told reporters here.

February 12th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least five militants were killed and six others were injured in an exchange of fire with security forces Friday in northwestern Pakistan, a military statement said. According to the statement, militants opened fire on a patrolling party of the Pakistan Army near Matta in the Swat district, forcing the security personnel to retaliate.
