Microsoft Corp. CEO, Steven Ballmer made it clear that they would move some employees offshore, if President elect Barack Obama plans to imposes higher taxes on U.S. companies' foreign profits. The statement follows Obama's announcement on May 4 that proposed restricting about $190 billion in tax breaks for offshore companies over the next decade. Ballmer explained that the move would make U.S. jobs more expensive. According to Ballmer the company would do better overseas than keeping inside the US.

To oversee an enhanced security system for the nation's computer networks, Obama is creating a "cyber czar" as part of a long-awaited plan stemming from a review he ordered shortly after taking office.

WASHINGTON - Reports indicate that US President Barrack Obama is planning to create a "cyber czar," a senior White House official who will have broad authority to develop strategy to protect the nation's government-run and private computer networks. According to a report in the Washington Post, the adviser will have the most comprehensive mandate granted to such an official to date and will probably be a member of the National Security Council.

The National Archives and Record Administration has lost two-terabyte of hard drive enclosing degital records from Bill Clinton’s presidency. The  hard drive was reported to have copies of electronic storage tapes from the Executive Office of the President of the Clinton Administration. NARA has taken the matter seriously and reviewed its internal information controls and worked upon the security processes.

WASHINGTON - The United States will create a new military command to coordinate the defence of Pentagon computer networks and improve offensive capabilities in cyberwarfare, the Wall Street Journal has reported. The initiative will reshape the military's efforts to protect its networks from attacks by hackers, especially those from countries such as China and Russia, the influential daily said citing unnamed 'current and former officials familiar with the plans.'

We all knew this is gonna happen some day, but not so soon! Twitter has actually reached and overwhelmed Facebook in case of market shares. Hitwise reported that as of Tuesday, Twitter, the popular microblogging service, had for the first time surpassed the market share of visits of the hit content aggregation site, Digg. According to Hitwise, Twitter now stands at number 84 in its Computers and Internet category, one space up the chart from Digg.
