Pay per Tweet: Get paid for tweeting

twitter-moneyRemember pay per post? yeah right, the controversial ad initiative that used to pay bloggers to write about products almost as if promoting it. The news is, they are at Twitter now and wants to make a new business model of the same kind and has named it Pay Per Tweet. So what they mean is very simple. They are developing a Twitter ad platform called Sponsored Tweets that will offer Twitter users the option of sending their followers messages about brands and products. Twitterers will get paid based either on the number of clicks they receive or on a flat fee per Tweet. Ted Murphy, Izea's (formerly PayperPost) CEO said it will take another month to launch this. So whats up guys? People who already have a good bunch of followers can start earning decently. Though I donno how well the felllow followers (@ twitter) will take it if you bump up with survey ads and mommy's kitchens' menu in the morning. However, considering the human resources and real time online projection that twitter has, I am sure PPT may catch up with the hot trends pretty soon.

Smartphone+NetBook=SmartBook?

smartbook-mobility-computing-device1Six years ago, when Psion announced their netBook, it was an irreplaceable breakthrough for mobile enterprise market. Excuse the geeks for they must have hallucinated of the next big thing, probably a cloned descendant of Mactini. So what could be the future of post-netbook world? The notebooks had paved the way for netbooks and now they would be conceding the legacy to their generic offspring nomenclatured as smartbook. Well, genesis of the term seems to be an extraction from the amalgamation of smartphone and netbook. This obviously is a breaking news for those conformist with the broadest opinion accusing netbook to be an unfeasible piece of vendor-speak.

There was a conscious exposition of the new thing last November in a speech by a marketing executive from hard-drive maker Western Digital. What could be deciphered from the speech was that the smartbook would be a computing device similar in size or slightly smaller version of netbook equipped with smartphone like features.

How to copy as plain text from any source

Suppose you are doing some research work at the internet from wikipedia and various other sources and want to copy bits and pieces of information from all the webpages in your doc. The annoying part is, if you simply copy them, there is a chance that many junk codes (like: hyperlinks, ad on hovering your mouse on a certain word etc) can come and disturb the way you want to save them or just won't let you copy that easily next time. You will have to strip them off for a normal mode which is more tedious. So what if you had an option just to select plain text from any portion of the webpage you want to copy? No associated HTML/ XML code will get copied with it even if its there. Here is a simple Firefox add-on that will help.

Despite having seen different operating systems being launched every year, we don't recall any Windows, Linux or Mac OS has had such popularity even before being launched, so many communities dedicated to the breaking news of a yet to be an official product and uncountable positives coming out in form of Microsoft's relatively liberal approach and reviews of tech pundits. So what exactly does this signify? To be fair, Windows 7 deserves much of its credits because it really has proved to be far superior than the previous version of half baked Windows Vista. But the question is, will it affect the Linux community?

Trent Reznor thrashes iPhone for app approval policy but just too much

Trent ReznorTrent Reznor, the leading man of Nine Inch Nails and a digital music visionary, thrashed Apple the other day because the NiN app was disapproved off an update on the grounds of "objectionable content" (read: too many F-attacks). But anyway, Apple's concern surprisingly was not with content that much but with the song "The Downward Spiral" that can be streamed to the updated NIN iPhone App. Which is ridiculous like their dubious App approval policy is. TR didn't sit back and chose to take it on and spoke his hearts out about the bizarre app policy of Apple. Full article (704 words) »
