Microsoft Bings Twitter to Search

twitterbing1With Twitter's foray into mainstream media there has been a urge for real-time search and urgency of delivering topical data. Google and Facebook are working out significant changes on their search tools to fillip status updates. In the meantime, tweets seem to be doing a better job in indexing the web. In a bid to offer real time search features Microsoft took the opportunity to add Twitter updates to its much-hyped search engine Bing. Currently the Twitter-related results are limited only to searches on prominent Twitterers themselves, not nearly all tweets.

Snap is a Big Distraction in Site Usability

Snap.com provide capability to allow web viewers to get a image preview of pages behind the links. While it sounds like an advantage, in my experience it is a major distraction while viewing the site. Recently I was in Ryan Boren's site which uses snap for link preview. The article was interesting but the big snapshots kept popping up. As my link isn't superfast, it took sometime for it to display the image. It was very annoying as I was unable to easily read the site and I had to move the cursor carefully to avoid links!

WordPress Patch Update From 1.5.1.2 to 1.5.1.3 Now Available

WordPress developers have posted yet another "security" update. Again, as always, you have to delete everything (except wp-content/ and config.php) and re-install from scratch. If you are, like me, tired of these frequent updates (after having finally updated to 1.5.1.2) then this patch is for you. With this little patch (24K zipped) (assuming you are already on 1.5.1.2) you will be updating just the 5 affected files.
