Apple has released the latest firmware for iPhone OS. The new version, iPhone OS 3.1.2 is available for iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch. The upgraded firmware addresses several issues and problems for both iPhone and iPod Touch. Download links for iPhone OS 3.1.2 is now available on iTunes 9.0.

Scratching into the updated USBConfiguration.plist in the most recent version of iPhone OS 3.1 beta provides a compelling evidence that the Cupertino company is working on the development of an unknown device reffered to as iProd. The evidences of such a device was out in March. Developers found a new device description for iProd 1,1 inside the configuration. Initially, developers while exploring the USBConfiguration.plist of iPhone OS 3.0 SDK beta identified a device called iProd0,1 nested inside Apple. The .plist item was incorporated in the usual iPhone and iPod Touch identifiers, and iPhone3,1, which turned out to be the iPhone 3GS released recently.

Rumors over the arrival of next generation of iPhone 3G never seems to end.  In a recent finding, a developer revealed that the most recent beta of the iPhone SDK includes icons for an iPhone model labelled as iPhone 2.1. Generally, the icons are displayed in the settings section of the iTunes when any iPhone is connected. The model ID is anticipated to be the next generation of hardware Apple plans to unveil in summer.
