Is Facebook killing Google softly? - A study

facebook_vs_googleBefore people feel obnoxious about the rather ambitious title this article ventures through, I must put you to peace by this self-quote:

Behind every successful machine, there is a human, always watching.

I know you are lost in the mazes of correlating it to the title but, a well researched article from Wired may help you realize what seems to be less convincing unless you see the real objective in the future. Long entry short: Facebook can actually creep into the empire of Google by denying them what they do the best, show your project to the world and profit.

Let's just think for a second, Mark Zuckerberg says

Google is a top-down way of organizing the Web that results in an impersonal experience that stifles online activity. You have a bunch of machines and algorithms going out and crawling the Web and bringing information back, That only gets stuff that is publicly available to everyone. And it doesn't give people the control that they need to be really comfortable.

10 technological announcements that shook us in 2009

hello-world-iphone

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

The year 2009 started on a high-note with some ground breaking revelations in CES 2009. In a keynote address, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced the availability of its long awaited, next-gen OS - Windows 7 beta. Following the suit, next big thing in the line of Linux OS was Fedora 11 Leonidas. While Apple chief Steve Jobs took his first break after a decade, blogs were flooded with iPhone 3G S leaks, out as the new avtar in mobile market long before it floored on the Apple store - enough noise to overwhelm Steven Spielberg's next project with Tintin as protagonist. Palm one the other end was looking to recover its lost glory in mobile phone market with the launch of its smartphone Pre. In the turn of events, Google created ripples in the enterprise market with its new tool for communication and collaboration on the web - Google waves. Google co-ounder Sergey Brin was highly apprehensive of Microsoft ad-hyped search engine Bing's launch this season, of course for no good reason. Microsoft plans to take gaming experience on Xbox 360 to the next level with controller-free gaming under the Project Natal.

Not just these but there was much more happening in the tech world that took let jaws drop. We went on an exhaustive search to break out the top tech adventures that shook the tech world in 2009

Sergey Brin talks about Google philosophy, Wave’s birth and innovations

sergey-brinIt seems today I am into two opposite motions for the same cause, Google. Just a while ago, we talked about how Google has become weary of Bing, but now, an interview of Sergey Brin to Jemima Kiss of Guardian is something that I should share with you coz it actually gives us a glimpse of how and why Google has gone that far and continues to move up the ladder despite the economic downturn. A Stanford University research project developed into a multi-billion-dollar phenomenon. It is quite astounding alright. But let's not get blown over with this rather, let's see the present side. How with a company of more than 20,000 people Google still innovates, moves fast and that too without imposing themselves on others , unlike most others. In this interview, Sergey Brin talks about benefits, google philosophy, the crazy implmentation of Google Wave and much more. Let me give you some excerpts.

Google Wave: Vision of Web 3.0?

google-wave logoGoogle is constantly upgrading and improving itself looking at the future of web with their kinds. In their endeavour of doing so, the latest innovation they showed us on Google Developers' conference at San Fransisco, is Google Wave. According to them,

Google Wave is a product that helps users communicate and collaborate on the web. A "wave" is equal parts conversation and document, where users can almost instantly communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more. Google Wave is also a platform with a rich set of open APIs that allow developers to embed waves in other web services and to build extensions that work inside waves.

In other words, its a communication tool that consolidates features from e-mail, instant messaging, blogging, multimedia management, document sharing and wiki. It is indeed, though I shouldn't sound as a G-fanboy, one of the most ambitious and just-at-the-edge projects Google has put his hands on, ever. I will try to justify my assumptions below. Let's get to know the Wave first.
