After a short gap we decided to get back with the HRM software. We delved into an open source human resource database for managing employee records and personal information - WaypointHR. It is an HR database that features a PHP based web-interface and a MySQL database. Effective management reports and ease of use are the major focus of this HR software.

WaypointHR provides a flexible Human Resource Information System (HRIS) developed by HR-Fundamentals ltd, primarily for UK, European and US employers. We have dealt with issue tracking software extensively in the past. Now we decided to take up an open source Project Management/ issue tracking system used by the MySQL team. Eventum is written in PHP and used MySQL. It has been designed to create and manage new projects and assign users to it. The system can be used to designate issues and track all the bugs and task. Rich in  features, the issue tracking system also adds time management feature. It's mainly used by support departments to track incoming technical support requests. Some software development teams use the system to organize tasks and bugs easily.

I started using dual monitors (SyncMaster 740N) on Linux (Fedora Core 6) about a month back on my new dream computer. I used GeForce 6200 LE with 256 MB RAM which provides for dual monitors with a VGA and DVI output. I had to use a DVI to VGA converter to attach the second monitor. Getting them to work was a pain on Linux. Finally I solved it with nvidia driver from Livna repository. Here is how I moved from single monitor to using dual monitors and then finally to triple monitors, the third one running Windows XP; all working seamlessly from the same keyboard and mouse and without using KVM. The monitors behave as a single big screen with individual controls. You can even use the techniques given here to use multiple monitors and screens without additional hardware or KVM.
