Software exports to grow in double digits: NASSCOM chief

Punjab offers uninterrupted power supply to IT firms

Chandigarh region’s software exports grow 31 percent

CHANDIGARH - Software exports from Chandigarh and its adjoining towns of Panchkula and Mohali grew 31 percent to cross Rs.1,050 crore in 2008-09, compared to Rs.800 crore the year before. Growth results released by officials here said that software exports in the union territory, particularly from the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park here, rose from Rs.504 crore in 2007-08 to Rs.750 crore last year.

Rayat-Bahra ties up with IBM to train students

CHANDIGARH - Punjab-based Rayat-Bahra Group of educational institutes has tied u p with IBM India to give specialised training to its engineering students, it was announced here Monday."There is an immediate need to bridge the gap between industry needs and academics, and this is our firm step in that direction," Gurvinder Singh Bahra, vice-chairman of the Rayat-Bahra Group, told reporters. "This is for the first time that IBM has signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with any educational institute in Punjab. Chamber advises against bailing out Satyam

CHANDIGARH - The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a leading business and industry lobby in north India, Thursday asked the central government not to offer any bailout package for IT bellwether Satyam Computer, which has admitted to an accounting fraud amounting to about Rs.70 billion (Rs.7,000 crore).
