How to autostart any program when Gnome desktop session starts

genomeThe gnome-session program starts up the desktop environment. Essentially, it loads either your last session, or a default session as defined by the user. There might be some applications that you want automatically started after the boot. For instance, those in habit of using the Skype would prefer to have it on even without  having to click. Well, that is only possible when you autostart a program at the start up. If you autostart a program in Gnome desktop it will start only after the session starts. This is in contrary to the PreSession solution that starts before the session has started. Now the question is how to make a program autostart when your Gnome desktop session starts.

How To Install Latest Version of rdiff-backup in Fedora Core 6 and Earlier

Fedora Core 6 an earlier do not have the latest version of rdiff-backup - version 1.2.2. The latest version of rdiff-backup is incompatible with the earlier versions. So our backup server running the latest version of rdiff-backup, for example, couldn't backup files from server running older version of rdiff-backup that comes with Fedora Core 6 or before.

How To Speed Up Linux Desktop by 30%+

I am using Linux (Fedora Core 6) on a pretty high end hardware (at least when I bought it) - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz (4M shared L2 Cache) with 2 GB DDR2 RAM, nVidia dual-head graphics card for over a year now. File Archiver Smackdown

I tested several file compression programs like zip, gzip, arj, bzip2, jar etc for compressing big files. The corpus constituted 5 POI generated Microsoft Excel documents totaling 298.8 MB. And there is a clear winner!
