When using enums in a switch, it is almost natural to assume they will be used like a regular switch. Unfortunately to accomodate enums, Java had to enhance its specification and enums in switch behave differently than regular switch statements in two significant and non-trivial ways.

Overview
Let there be light and there was light. Let there be sound and there were music players. In quest of searching the best music player in Windows, I had to look into every minute detail of their features because they are almost similar in comparison. Windows Media Player, Jet Audio Player, Media Monkey and Winamp were the ones I tested this time.
To come up with a specific target one needs to go through different levels. I did so too to present to you an honest and deep review of these softwares. On the way, we lost two friends of ours, Windows Media Player and Jet Audio player because they were certainly not worth participating in the race for the best. Windows Media Player with its age old presets and EQs and only SRS WOW effects couldn't but fail.Though Jet Audio had a lot of options, still it wasn't the product I was expecting. So I had Winamp and Media Monkey to go for the final show.

Right from the first day with Windows Classic Media Player to this date, I have always searched for THAT improved Video Player which could meet my expectations. From the extremely snobbish Windows Media Player 10 to never-failing VLC media player, I have tried and tested almost all of them. But I wasn't satisfied with any until GOM player. I may sound biased here so I have prepared an in-depth review of my treasured toy just for you. Read and then decide.

You all know now that Google News crawled an obscure reprint of an article from 2002 when United Airlines was on the brink of bankruptcy. United Airlines has since recovered but due to a missing dateline, Google News ran the story as today's news. The story was rapidly picked up by other news aggregators and eventually headlined as a news flash on Bloomberg. This triggered automated trading programs to dump UAL, cratering the stock from $12 to $3 and evaporating 1.14 billion dollars (nearly United's total market cap yesterday) in shareholder wealth. The stock recovered within the day to $10 and is now trading at $9.62, a market cap of $300M less than before Google ran the story.
This story highlights the unhealthy importance of Google on world economy. Google's action (intentional or not) can be directly attributed to over 300 million dollar loss by United and a loss of face. Should Google be sued for this mistake? Read more (331 words) »

I don't get Google AdSense. Last year with great fanfare they announced making the text of the ad non-linkable while keeping the title and URL linkable. This lead to immediate loss of huge revenue by publishers worldwide. And yet they are glaringly violating their own rules for ImDB.

The test machine runs on Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 Ghz (x2) with 2GB RAM. I tried loading single page PHP manual (16.5 MB) on Windows Vista from our local server with 100Mbps LAN connecting it. At the same time I was running the Javascript console to measure performance of page loading. I was also searching for the term cgi in the page being loaded. It takes about 2 minutes to load it in Firefox. 20 minutes later the page was still loading in Google Chrome!
The page up / page down keys were pretty unresponsive in the tab as well as the Javascript console. It appears Google Chrome parses pages as it loads the. As of the time of this writing the single tab with PHP manual has consumed 576 MB of RAM and still increasing. I could see the Javascript Console was using the same process which explains which it was hanging along with the browser tab. Read after the break for more details.
