Wipro net profit up 18 percent in third quarter

January 20th, 2009 BANGALORE - Wipro Ltd Wednesday projected $1.05 billion (Rs.51.73 billion) revenue from its global IT services for the fourth quarter (January-March) of this fiscal (2008-09). In regulatory filing to the stock exchanges, the IT bellwether said the outlook for this quarter (Q4) was based on revenue from its IT services in the third quarter (October-December) of this fiscal at $1.13 billion under the American accounting system (US GAAP).

January 20th, 2009 BANGALORE - Wipro Ltd posted net profit of Rs.10.04 billion (Rs.1,004 crore/$204 million) for the third quarter (October-December) of this fiscal (2008-09) as against Rs.8.54 billion (Rs. 8,540 crore) in the same period last fiscal, registering 18 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth under the Indian accounting system.

January 19th, 2009 NEW DELHI - IT training major NIIT Ltd Tuesday reported a net profit of Rs.55 million for the third quarter ending December 31, a 60 percent dip compared to Rs.139 million profit in the same period a year before. The dip in profits has been attributed to the launch of NIIT Uniqua and increased depreciation due to new school projects that impacted profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter, a company statement said.

June 3rd, 2009 MUMBAI - Software giant Wipro's revenues will not be affected because of the bankruptcy of Detroit-based customer General Motors Corp, the Indian IT bellwether said in a regulatory filing Wednesday. "General Motors accounts for less than 1 percent of Wipro's IT services segment revenue, and our assessment is that a substantial portion is expected to continue," the company statement read.

May 27th, 2009 NEW DELHI - IT training and talent development company NIIT has reported a 44.1 percent increase in standalone net profit for 2008-09 despite a 17.8 percent fall in its fourth quarter earnings. The company's net profit for last fiscal stood at Rs.47.21 crore, up from Rs.32.77 crore in 2007-08, while the January-March quarter profit fell to Rs.23.14 crore from Rs.28.14 crore in the same period of 2008.

July 29th, 2009 NEW DELHI - IT solutions provider NIIT Technologies Wednesday reported a 13.5 percent dip in its operating profit to Rs.39.4 crore for the quarter ended June 30 as against Rs.45.6 crore in the like period last fiscal. The company's consolidated revenues too dipped 11 percent to Rs.218.2 crore from Rs.245.8 crore, NIIT said in a regulatory statement.

January 18th, 2009 BANGALORE - Hit by a massive forex loss due to a weakening rupee, global IT services firm MindTree Ltd. Monday reported a lower consolidated net profit of Rs.103 million (Rs.10.3 crore) for the third quarter (October-December) of this fiscal (2008-09), posting a negative growth of 48 percent year-on-year.

January 22nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Software and outsourcing major HCL Technologies Friday reported 49.1 percent growth in its net profit for the quarter ended Dec 31 at Rs.3.98 billion (Rs.398 crore/$80.7 million) as against Rs.2.67 billion a year ago. The company's net profit for the half-year period ended Dec 31 was up 22.7 percent at RS.65.18 billion as against Rs.53.11 billion in the corresponding period last year.
