March 26th, 2005 I use WordPress to maintain this site. After upgrading to version 1.5 I was left with a theme which doesn't do much of what I want to do with my site.

March 17th, 2009 With Blogger templates flooding the web, the users are being spoiled for choices. Just a few years ago blogger (aka blogspot) had a limited templates that could meet the need for clean and minimalist template.  With Wordpress introducing newer and better themes, Blogger was losing its popularity in the blogosphere After the Blogger templates were changed to the XML format they have become immensely popular.

March 7th, 2006 The site statistics shows a healthy upwards trend, despite lack of significant attention last month. I am really looking forward to breaking the 1 Million mark, first per month and then per day.

February 10th, 2007 Barack Obama, US presidential candidate, has taken a huge leap forward from his contemporaries by creating his own social networking site, in addition to maintaining his presence in YouTube and MySpace (possibly unofficial) and other places. I just registered and created a blog to test the site.

August 22nd, 2005 I suddenly decided to change this site. It wasn't planned nor very well thought out.

April 21st, 2007 Snap.com provide capability to allow web viewers to get a image preview of pages behind the links. While it sounds like an advantage, in my experience it is a major distraction while viewing the site.

June 3rd, 2008 How effective is a site re-design? The final proof is in site traffic. When we started re-designing Taragana.com we had many apprehensions.

August 30th, 2007 I came across an interesting project in RentACoder which is obviously taking advantage of RentACoder to do its dirty job - pushing its critic / competitor to page 2 of Google. The project specification is as belows: THE SOLUTION: We NEED this persons website to be "pushed down" to page 2 on google when our company name is googled.

November 7th, 2005 BoingBoing reported: "Forbes has a free service that lets you send an email to yourself and have it arrive in 1, 3, 5, 10, or 20 years." The site looks like Forbes site because it has same template of text and images as is available in Forbes. However the URL to the site is forbes.codefix.net/capsule/ Can you imagine Forbes actually hosting their pages on the site of codefix.net? It appears to be a small company.

April 12th, 2005 Site Owners often detest the fact that google caches an old copy of their site and displays it on searches which brings up the site pages. A simple way to prevent robots (including Google, Yahoo etc.) from caching your site contents is to include the following within the head section of your web page.

July 17th, 2005 Once again Google has started playing with site PR values everflux as they say. This site home page is bouncing from 5 to 6.

March 15th, 2009 Firefox 3 onwards has a nice feature which warns you of sites which are suspected of forgery or attacks (through trojans, malware etc.). Unfortunately the feature is too intrusive and warns you repeatedly, nags you to death is a better phrase to describe it, even when you have confirmed that the site is genuine.

July 31st, 2007 I have started monitoring my site for uptime statistics at 5 minute interval. Uptime is defined as when the response time for http://blog.taragana.com is 30 seconds or less.

October 9th, 2005 I have re-designed the corporate site, made is simpler and cleaner, created a new logo etc. Note: Here is a page from the old site for comparison.

June 26th, 2006 Digg, the popular technology news site, appears to crumble under its own popularity. For quite sometime I am unable to access digg site.
