September 23rd, 2008 This blog is actively protected by Comment Guard Pro, WordPress Comment Spam protection plugin for pro-bloggers and semi-pro bloggers. We don't allow any spam, even apparently innocuous ones in this blog.

February 22nd, 2007 Comment Guard 0.3 Beta is a bug fix release. Very occassionally the plugin would request a valid commenter to submit his comment again.

December 20th, 2007 Ever since we installed Comment Guard Pro, anti comment-spam plugin on this blog, it stopped over 1 millon spam comments (1001011 spam comments were blocked by Angsuman's Comment Guard plugin in 335 days 8 hours 38 minutes. 99.338 % of the comments received during this time were spam.) so far (look in the right sidebar for latest stats).

March 2nd, 2009 I got this interesting spam in my comments today: Please, do not delete the given message. Money obtained from spam will go to the help hungry to children ugandf What do I do? I figured someone who can stoop so low as to spam is not likely to donate his ill-gotten wealth.

November 4th, 2007 Comment Guard Pro is finally turning out to be the uber anti-comment spam protection plugin I dreamt of; everything you would ever want in a comment spam protection plugin and more, much more. The plugin itself is composed of several modules, each of which can be individually enabled / disabled, tweaked and configured all from the user interface.

June 23rd, 2008 Would you believe if I said that GMail does not provide an email address to report spam? After some investigation I found how you can report GMail spam to Google. You have received spam from GMail user in your GMail account This one is simple to address.

Wondering if I should shift my residence to IOWA. Looking at the amount of spam I get I could be a millionaire in no time :)

September 28th, 2007 508903 spam comments were blocked by Angsuman's Comment Guard plugin in 253 days 21 hours 54 minutes. 99.503% of the comments received during this time were spam.

January 17th, 2007 After being thoroughly fed-up with the state of WordPress comment spam protection, I have decided to solve the comment spam problem in WordPress blogs once and for all. I have installed an experimental commenting system which is designed to completely stop (read 100%) robotic spam (spam generated by bots and not humans) in all my blogs and with no (read 0%) false positives.

December 7th, 2007 There is a widespread assumption by many bloggers that comments on old posts are mostly spam. There are several WordPress plugins to prevent commenting on old posts, even posts as recent as one month old like, for example, Akismet.

February 12th, 2005 I accidentally stumbled upon a site ( spam-guard[dot]blogspot[dot]com ) which exists for the sole purpose of spamming. It is a spam blog or splog! For sometime spammers have targeted blogs, first through comment spam and now increasingly through trackback spam.

May 28th, 2006 Akismet is a spam prevention plugin from the WordPress author, Matt Mullenweg. It uses collective wisdom in filtering spams.
