This time the company has joined hands with ThinNetworks to supply 356,800 virtualized desktops to schools in all of Brazil's 5,560 municipalities. The initiative by Userful and ThinNetworks is also the world's largest desktop Linux deployment. Further it sets a new record for low cost PCs with PC sharing hardware and software costing less than $50 per seat.

The project has been planned to unfold in three phases. The first phase would be 18,750 workstations in rural schools These have been installed already.

It's worth to notice that Userful would allow the PC sharing hardware and software at just $50 per additional seat. Moreover Userful Multiplier has ThinNetworks full-fledged hardware support. The merger offers features of a full PC including high performance video. The systems incorporates standard PC hardware with additional low-cost video cards and USB/2-way-audio hubs.

Last year Userful along with Omni Technology solutions and Novell took the the initiative to make a license for Multiplier. It offered a software that would allow Linux computer support of up to 10 independent users, monitors and keyboards. This was to be made available for every university, college and school district in the world, free of charge.
