Unadvertised Jobs: Get The Inside Track
The CareerNews Newsletter today has a very interesting article on Unadvertised Jobs.
To quote:
If you're currently in the job market, here's the little known secret to tapping into the most lucrative, yet hidden jobs available.
Even in this economy, there are still millions of great jobs out there. It's just that many of the best ones never make their way to the classifieds. Instead, they're taken by people who know about them before they're ever advertised. Imagine how great it would be if you had thousands of friends who'd always tell you about unadvertised jobs that you're perfect for.
As they say, it's not what you know it's who you know.
I couldn't have said it better. I created the Hot Computer Jobs Blogs specifically to make such hidden jobs available to all.
Personally I get scores of emails everyday with lucrative job offers from various alumni groups, friends, recruiters etc. However I am not in the job market. I enjoy what I am doing very much. So few of us collect our daily job offers and we post only the best jobs here. Let me know if you find it useful.
You can also subscribe to it by email (once a day only) or use the RSS feed in your feed aggregator. The best part is that you can subscribe to jobs which are interesting to you. For example if you are looking for Java Jobs only then you can subscribe to http://hotjobs.taragana.com/index.php/search/java/feed/. This is a RSS 2.0 feed containing only Java jobs. Alternatively you can bookmark this url- http://hotjobs.taragana.com/index.php/search/java/ for specifically Java jobs. To give another example - if you are interested in graphic design jobs then your URL to bookmark will be http://hotjobs.taragana.com/index.php/search/graphic+design/ and your RSS feed will be http://hotjobs.taragana.com/index.php/search/graphic+design/feed/.
BTW: I am working to bring significantly more powerful search facility to the site with Natural Language Search and boolean search capability.

One problem - in FF on the Mac (OS X 10.4), the sidebars are way down the page under the posts!

I was just playing with the layout and I got too tired to change it back
Please check again.
The reason fo playing is because I am using Gila derived theme, the sidebars are loading first and so in search summary the sidebar contents are showing up. Also it affects the serps negatively. So I tried rectifying that. However the simplest solution doesn’t work in this case, I will have to switch to my home-brewed theme for this one.
