Flipping through TV channels in Chennai, I realized that only channels I can understand (not in Tamil) are Animax, Pogo (for kids), Splash (for kids), SAB and Sahara. Feuilleter les chaînes de télévision à Chennai, je me suis rendu compte que seules les chaînes je peux comprendre (pas en tamoul) sont Animax, Pogo (pour enfants), Splash (pour enfants), SAB et le Sahara.
Never being a watcher of soaps, my only decent alternative was Animax. Ne jamais être un observateur de savons, ma seule alternative était décent Animax.
I realized I have started to like quite a few of their serials. Je me suis rendu compte que j'ai commencé à aimer tout à fait un peu de leurs séries. Here is my list in the order of liking: Voici ma liste de l'ordre de goût:
1. Samurai X - story of Battousai’s life in post-slasher period and strength of conviction. Samurai X - Battousai histoire de la vie dans les slasher-période et la force de conviction. Highly recommended. Highly recommended. Very rich potrayal of characters, good storyline. Très riche potrayal de caractères, une bonne histoire.
2. Get Backers - story of two friends who can get back almost anything. Get Backers - histoire de deux amis qui peuvent se remettre à peu près n'importe quoi. Again the characters are richly potrayed. Encore une fois les personnages sont richement potrayed. May city gives me jitters. Mai ville me donne jitters.
3. Dan Detective School - story of a bunch of kids who learn being detectives. Dan Detective School - histoire d'une bande d'enfants qui apprennent en détectives. It is often stimulating for the mind to outguess the story teller. Il est souvent stimulante pour l'esprit de l'histoire outguess scrutateur.
4. Cyborg 009 - Story of 9 friends as cyborgs. Cyborg 009 - Histoire de 9 amis que des cyborgs.
3. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - way too geeky even for me. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - beaucoup trop geek, même pour moi.
4. .Hack Sign - ok, all others are not watchable. . Hack Sign - ok, tous les autres ne sont pas regardable.
BTW: I happened to watch Wonder Woman on Pogo TV once briefly, flipping channel in horror, way too cheesy for my taste. BTW: j'ai pu le regarder Wonder Woman sur Pogo TV une fois brièvement, renverser la chaîne dans l'horreur, beaucoup trop cheesy à mon goût. Yuk!

I was interested tp leave a comment after reading ur blog. J'ai été intéressé tp laisser un commentaire après lecture ur blog. Seems that u like the shows on Animax. Il semble que et comme le montre sur Animax. However, in Samurai X, the word ur referring to is Battousai, and not Batusai. Toutefois, dans Samurai X, le mot se référant à ur est Battousai, et pas Batusai. If u want to know more about ur favorite shows, mail me. I hope they move on with the new series. J'espère qu'ils aller de l'avant avec la nouvelle série. However it is still fun to watch sometimes (the rerun) though not as much. Toutefois, il est toujours amusant de voir parfois (la reprise), mais pas autant.

Animax, a channel made for Anime programs, does NOT air Dragonball..!!!! Animax, une chaîne pour les programmes animés, n'a pas l'air Dragonball ..!!!! If somehow, they start Dragonball, then start DBZ, then Db GT(all english funimation dubs), it’ll take a year to finish the whole series, and by that time, Animax will be very much giving Pogo and Cartoon network a hard time. Well, I’m from Mumbai and a huge fan of Animax… and they’ve already started to dub some Animes in Hindi over here… it’s so IRRITATING! Eh bien, je suis de Mumbai et un énorme fan de Animax… et ils ont déjà commencé à certains dub Animes en hindi ici… c'est tellement IRRITANT! Maybe it won’t be long before it reaches Chennai, methinks. Peut-être il ne sera pas long avant qu'il n'atteigne Chennai, Methinks.
Anyway, I’m not a big fan of Samurai X, and I feel they should’ve shown Rurouni Kenshin first even though it came after X, but it’s alright. Well, I visited a couple of sites and it said Arjuna was “inspired” by Hindu Mythology… but I didn’t find any more information. Eh bien, j'ai visité quelques sites et il a dit à Arjuna était «inspiré» par la mythologie hindoue… mais je ne l'ai pas trouvé de plus amples informations. Oh well, great animation at least. Oh bien, une grande animation au moins. Looked like they spent quite a bit of money for a 13-episode anime. Vu comme ils ont passé tout à fait un peu d'argent pour un épisode 13-animés.
And they tried to rectify that artificiality thing by dubbing it in “Hinglish”… I had to recoil when the sentence was uttered… I think it went like this: “Apne opponents ko undestimate nahi karna chahiye” or something… I mean, what was the point? Hm… those e-mails would come in pretty handy. Hm… les e-mails serait en assez pratique. I feel like ranting at them for not broadcasting more episodes of Inuyasha… and to either take off Card Captor Sakura or show the remaining part of it. J'ai l'impression d'être à ranting pour la radiodiffusion pas plus de Inuyasha épisodes… et soit à décoller Card Captor Sakura ou montrer la partie restante de celui-ci.
Also Dragonball is pretty long drawn out. Dragonball est également assez longue. I mean, I lost count of how many days that Goku was travelling on the clouds. Je veux dire, j'ai perdu le décompte du nombre de jours que Goku roulait sur les nuages. I honestly didn’t know that you could drag out just plain running for such a long time… it was so frustrating, I had to give up. Honnêtement je ne savais pas que vous pouvez faire glisser tout simplement à fonctionner pendant si longtemps… il était tellement frustrant, j'ai dû abandonner. Besides, two-episode (or more) long battles are not for me. Par ailleurs, deux épisodes (ou plus) de longueur batailles ne sont pas pour moi. But to each his own, I guess. Mais à chacun sa propre, je suppose.

Dubbing/Subtitling are important for culture transfer between countries. Doublage / sous-titrage sont importantes pour la culture de transfert entre les pays.
I do agree that the quality of present dubs on TV is bad…but thats due to lot of other factors…viz pricing..overflow of work….incompetent actors…no linguist director etc etc.. Je suis d'accord que la qualité de l'actuel qualifie à la télévision est mauvaise… mais thats en raison de beaucoup d'autres facteurs à savoir la tarification… .. débordement de travail…. Incompétent acteurs… non linguiste directeur etc etc.
Dubbing essentially makes the product more local.Infact educational channels like NGC/Discovery need to be dubbed to reach bigger audiences. Doublage essentiellement rend le produit plus local.Infact éducation chaînes, comme NGC / de découverte doivent être doublés pour atteindre un public plus important.
Just remember mostly it is for those people who dont understand English & cant relate to it with language/culture/background & other nuances. N'oubliez pas qu'il est le plus souvent pour les personnes qui ne pas comprendre l'anglais et portent sur cant avec la langue / culture / arrière-plan et d'autres nuances.

I am a great fan of Samurai-X. Je suis un grand fan de Samurai-X. Infact i stay up in the night till 12 PM just to watch the show as i can not watch it at 8:30. En effet je rester dans la nuit jusqu'à 12 h de regarder le spectacle que je ne peux pas regarder à 8:30. Well…. Eh bien…. i always have been a fan of samurai swords,the katanas,and also of kendo. J'ai toujours été un fan de samouraïs épées, les katanas, et aussi de kendo. When i saw how Kenshin uses a ‘reversed edge’ sword to protect people i was really happy. Quand j'ai vu comment Kenshin utilise une "pointe inversée" épée à protéger les personnes j'étais vraiment heureux. After seeing it on TV , i even tried to buy a ‘reversed edge’ sword for myself, but then again… those darn things cost nearly $150. Après avoir vu à la télé, j'ai même essayé d'acheter une "pointe inversée" épée pour moi-même, mais encore une fois… les choses darn a coûté près de 150 $. But every time i see Samurai-X, i feel as if i myself am using the sword. Mais chaque fois que je vois Samurai-X, je me sens comme si je suis moi-même en utilisant l'épée.
My passion for kendo has been fueled because of this show. Ma passion pour le kendo a été alimentée en raison de ce spectacle. I would really like to join kendo classes. Je voudrais vraiment vous joindre à kendo classes. Please do not stop this show. S’il vous plaît ne s'arrêtent pas ce spectacle. Please. S’il vous plaît.

I love action cartoons mainly cartoons like dragonballz,getbackers,inuyasha. Rurouni Kenshin is the same as Samurai X. However possibly (haven’t seen Rurouni Kenshin) Rurouni Kenshin ends with Kyoto saga after the death of Makoto Shishio. Rurouni Kenshin est le même que Samurai X. Toutefois peut-être (ne l'ont pas vu Rurouni Kenshin) Rurouni Kenshin se termine par la saga de Kyoto après la mort de Makoto Shishio. Shishio excels as a villain for whom you feel. Shishio excelle comme un méchant pour qui vous vous sentez.

i read though this page and found that most of the people want to see DBZ in animax. i lire attentivement cette page et a constaté que la plupart des gens veulent voir dans DBZ animax. Well…Bittorrent is kinda like a file-sharing network and is used by all the anime community online to distribute anime(besides IRC,which is also used, but not for newbies). True that Anime caters more to adults with various themes of sci-fi drama etc. But Anime being a new concept to India is mostly dismissed a kid’s stuff by many before even they get a chance to experience what Anime can truly deliver. I am a really big fan of samurai x,hungry heart and dragon ballz.I liked animax a lot but unfortunately it has stopped coming in hyderabad.i wish the staff of animax will read this and try to bring it back in hyd.i really miss it. Is it that my mind is playing tricks or is it real?Did animax or anything else ever show ‘magic user’s club’in India?Well i can almost see some parts of the opening music in my mind.So I checked out in the net and there really is such an anime!But I cant remember any ads or anything else like that.And the only place where I could have seen that ‘opening’is on tv. Animax showed it before. Animax montré auparavant. Animax repeats the serials over and over. Animax reprend la série et plus.
And yet they wouldn’t show high quality serials like Dragonball Z in India. Et pourtant, ils ne montrent pas de haute qualité en série Dragonball Z comme en Inde.

Thanks….i tried that and even become successful in downloading a full chapter of naruto in japanese from which i coulld figure out nothing.I see that the files are of sizes of order 500mb or even 5gb in some cases.what does that mean? I can understand how u feel.the cable co. Je peux comprendre comment et feel.the câble co. might have just changed the frequency there.The best option for u is perhaps just wait for some time.u may try better wires and tv receptors.if yor tv is too old then this may be the time to take new tv.dish tv doent support animax yet.so as i said …just wait.. peut-être juste changé la fréquence there.The meilleure option pour u est peut-être attendre quelques time.u mai mieux essayer de fils et de receptors.if yor tv tv est trop vieux, cela mai être le temps de prendre de nouvelles tv.dish tv doent soutien animax yet.so Comme je l'ai dit d'attendre… ..

Pretty much they have uploaded their VCD / DVD and probably many of them.
However I would suggest you first try the smaller ones (say under 50 MB) to get a feel of the procedure.

That is normal and expected from any bittorrent client. As more and more people start downloading the speed increases.

It does.

Just double-click on the torrent file again (which you have downloaded the first time). The software will realize that it needs to resume download.
BTW: I use BitTornado software for my torrents.

Ask more of your friends to also simultaneously start downloading. If that sounds surprising realize that it is part of bittorrent architecture. More downloads speeds up individual download as clients downloads portions from each other.

Is Animax going Hindi?I know its started in Hindi in sum places but it had been airing in English in most places and now they r starting two new anime series ‘Alien musibat’ and ‘Miss khatti meethi’.It would be sad if its true ‘coz Hindi dubs r as horrible as they can get!

Talking about movies ,i think my top favourites so far are—’Ghost in the shell’ and also ‘Spirit of Wonder’.
It looked to me that animax has shown a highly edited version of the movie “Ghost in the Shell”.I dont where they got that edited version but I think it was totally unnecessary.I am really REALLY dissapointed with animax for that.Because I thought animax shows everything uncut.I can only hope that animax does not do this in future.Any1 feel like I do?
And among the latest animax shows–I am really starting to like Kino’s Journey(:The Beautiful World)……its really fantastic ….as much as I have seen.
If any1 hasnt started it yet then just start it.Its amazing.

Wow! That’sa lot of activity! It’s nice to see the Indian anime community is pretty vocal. The fans here in Bangladesh are sort of closet fans.
Anyway, here’s some stuff I’d like to say.
DBZ: When DBZ was dubbed, two different companies did it - Ocean and then FUNimation. The first 52 US aired episodes were dubbed by Ocean but distributed by FUNi. These constituted the Saiyan Saga (which FUNi is considering to rename as the ‘Vegeta Saga’), the Namek Saga and the Ginyu Saga, respectively. These were the only episodes bought by CNI (Cartoon Network India) and aired. In the USA, the continued from episode 53 - but that episode and all those superseding it (uptil Ep. 276) were dubbed by FUNi. A possible reason as to why the ordering disrepency. It’s possible that FUNi or CN USA wanted too much money for the rest. We’ll never know. I really loved DBZ (it’s my favourite anime), so I downloaded all the episodes except for the ones shown on CNI. The Saiyan Saga, Namek Saga, Ginyu Saga, Frieza Saga, Garlic Jr. Saga and Trunks Saga - I have those on original DVD. Anyway heres the listing of all the ‘DBZ Sagas’ if you want to dl them (it’s possible to dl by Saga on BitTorrent).

Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X: It’s one and the same. ‘Samurai X’ was the first US dub. Anime wasn’t so popular then so they changed the name to ‘Samurai X’ and many of the names were also changed. Kenshin became ‘Kenshi’, Kaoru became ‘Cory’ and Yahiko became ‘Yoshi’. Also the original translation for ’slasher’ was actually ‘manslayer’. They thought that was too violent so they made it ’slasher’. Of course, later some other company made a new English Dub and they kept the original name ‘Rurouni Kenshin’. All the character names were kept intact and the translation seemed to be more accurate. Also, the Voice Acting (VAing) seemed to be of SIGNIFICANTLY higher quality. This is also one of my faves and I have it as a boxed DVD set.
Ghost in the Shell (movie): There are obvious reasons as to why it was edited. The movie displayed a gratuitous amount of nudity and there were a few violent scenes. I was sure they’d edit it. Anyhow, how did they edit it? (I missed it) Did they use pixelation or did they cut scenes outright? If they used the later then it’s bad since it’s such a twisted, cyberpunk story many signficant details would be lost.
Miss Khatti Meethi: WTF? I need to watch more of it to be sure, but I think this is a blatant rip-off of one of the most highly rated anime of recent times: Great Teacher Onizuka. I saw todays episode where there’sa guy named ‘Ijikawa’ and he tries to commit suicide, but gets saved by Miss Whatsherface. Hmmm, now in GTO there’sa videogame geek (and it’s not me :P) called ‘Yoshikawa’ who also tries to commit suicide, but gets saved by his homeroom teacher, Eikichi Onizuka, 22 years old. Anyhow, maybe it’s just a coincidence and I’m overreacting, but if I get to the bottom of this mystery (with or without Scooby Doo) I’ll let you guys know.
That’s it for now.
Wait, there’sa wee bit more. If you guys are up for some good anime downloads:
1) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG - The 2nd season of GITS SAC. Section 9 is back and is now after a radical, individualist group called the ‘Particularist Eleven’. They also shed a lot of backstory on Section 9 members and also explain some part of the history of the world. Thrilling stuff and it’s better than SAC methinks.
2) Bleach - Kurosaki Ichigo, 15, is a normal teenager with the not-so normal ability to see spirits. Since his own spirit energy is very high, spirit demons called Hollows are attracted to it and attack him. He is saved by a Deathgod named Kuchiki Rukia who herself is critically wounded. Rukia entrusts her powers to Ichigo who suddenly bursts with untapped energy and is apparently far more powerful than Rukia. Thus begins their adventures. Bleach is bloody good stuff: the story, the music and art are brilliant and the fight scenes are really cool. The best part is how it just KEEPS GETTING BETTER with each episode.

SamuraiX:I dont know about you but I absoulutely enjoyed SamuraiX.The Voice Acting for SamuraiX is definitely amongst the very best from Animax(so far).Samurai X is wonderful.
Miss Khatti Meethi and Alien Musibat:I heard that the original name for the former1 is something like “Gokusen” and for the latter1 is something like “Lamu the invader girl”.The creator of AM is the same as that of Inuyasha—Rumiko Takashi(She has created many other series like Ranma1/2 which is coming soon on Animax.
GITS|Movie:Animax seems to be particularly shy about showing this movie.Where it shows the other ones at least 1ce every 2 months,this 1 has been is shown only twice in all.
I dont know exactly how the movie was edited but it was edited to at least some extent for sure.It even seems that some of the scenes were replaced by some other scens.And some of the scenes were cut short atleast if not cut totally.Animax never pixelates anything and it didnt do that in this case either.The funny part is that inspite of all that animax has shown almost evrypart of major.Animax has already shown many serieses with a lot of nudity and I did not expect Animax to cut things.Animes are often like that.Honestly, I am dissapointed.
I dont know about you people but I am not in favour of editing movies.The whole story of GITS is like that.In fact,in the manga you will find even more nudity.Most animes,including GITS are made for young adults and there should be a proper distinction between anime for children and for late teens and even much olders.I think animax tries to make that distinction with zones like ‘megazones’ and ‘fun-fun times’ but it isnt completely successful yet.
GITS|SAC 2nd gig:I have a feeling that this will be coming soon on animax .Say within the next 3-4 months.Usually,you can find out by keeping track of the Animax-Asia site.The new-coming animes there will be shown in about 6-months time in Animax-SouthAsia.I enjoyed the 1st gig a lot…specially the laughing man.

I just visited your forum.Its great!
Although the arrangement is a little messed up.
For example i didnt find any topic on Samurai X,Getbackers,Inuyasha,Cyborg009 etc.
Also,a lot of the anime-names there was from anmax-asia etc.They never appeared in anomax-sa(india).They should be in future section.

The description u gave below the respective anime makes the page look all messed up and congested. why dont u set a first thread in these topics where u can post the description instead, that would look better and the first page wont look too filled up.

The reason why I wrote all that is because I wanted say that you missed a lot of popular and great shows in your forum.
Unless you leave some space for the more popular animes,you cannot expect that your forum will get responses quickly.
Asians will come if you give it some time but I think South-Asians should be your 1st target.
Also I was testing my memory.

Did anyone watch Emma-the Victorian Romance. It was good for as far as I’ve seen it and its two epis actually. But the Animation is very good, the soft look of the pictures, not overdone..very subtle. Looking forward to watch more of it.

I am 27 yr. old Anime fan and Love this forum
The email address given to send our thoughts to Animax (especially not to change to a Hindi channel) is useful as it is not availble on the website.
Lamu (alien musibat), Ranma, Inyuasha, etc are great and hope that new shows like ‘Flame of Recca’ including anime/manga movies such as Final Fantasy, Steamboy, etc will be shown.
Animax should not edit shows due of some adult type situations/sceens because the story line gets a bit confusing. They should instead be shown at late night hours.
I hope the day comes where a Home satelite set top box or card will give access to all english channels in India. Cable wallas in Mumbai are charging exhorbanlty for a digital box to get the english channles such as cartoon netowrk, pogo, discovery, etc.

Hi there! This is a really good site! Well Samurai X has a LOT of violence, but that doesn’t make it unwatchable! It teaches you a lot, that is, well I learn Karate at school and would love to learn Kendo as well. It tells you that the sword is not meant for slashing but for saving. You just don’t go around slashing innocent people just like that.But yes, if anyone is helpless, you should take out that sword and fight, to save them.Detective School Q is also great.Baffling cases with amazing solutions.Animax is not only for entertainment but also for education.Be it moral or not.Animax is a channel WORTH having.

I believe Funimation dubbed version of DBZ is owned by CN. Looks like Animax didn’t think it was worth to buy/create a dubbing themselves.

1.tarepanda:this is what i hate the most.its soooooo dum i mean wats the theme of it all it takes a million secconds to move its body to an inch its soo time wasting.

The problem is probably because Funimation Studio english dubbing of Dragonball Z is owned by Cartoon Network. So if Animax wants to show it then it will have to dub it all over again. The best hope IMHO is if Cartoon Network decides to show this.
There are some romors afloat that Cartoon Network has indeed decided to show DBZ.

listen up people,very clearly:-
1.Samurai X has already ended on Animax(its only 95 eps) but the series continues with the 2 OVA’s.
But i say that you’ll be better off watching the first OVA(its a masterpiece) and then go with the manga of Rurouni Kenshin from volume 28(Rurouni Kenshin=SamuraiX).
2.Someone please tell me who told you guys that DBZ will air on CN this year?please tell me!!!I want some hard proof.
3.I dunno about DBZ but CN is going to air One Piece this summer and that is confirmed.

Ok DBZ fans, get it straight:-
CN screwed up DBZ in India not because they knew Animax was on its way.They hardly knew about Animax.Animax started in Japan in 1997-98 and was only in Japan until Sony decided to launch it in phillipines/singapore in late 2003.And CN had screwed DBZ in march 2002.It did so because the eps 1-53 were done by ocean group.then on the rest episodes were less censored and contained blood and bad language.So i think thats the reason for screwing DBZ by CN…not the reason that CN foresaw the launch of Animax.

Well i think siddharth and others do have a point.I dont think animax is available at every corner of India.
But I hope that what alex and others are saying is true and animax gets all rights and reach every corner of india via set top box.
In terms of content animax definitely beats CN coz CN only shows kids stuff.And animax really is for every1.
And I hope animax shows DBZ first bcos i think CN will just edit too much and mess it up.Although animax does edit sometimes(and i dont like it),it is at a much much much lower level compared to CN.
CN blew away entire episodes of CCS.
And also,limewire guy thanks for your suggestions.

Siddharth ,I think its all about choices that may vary from person to person.
DBZ is what 1 of those which really popularised anime.In 2002( I think), the most used word in search-engines was Dragonball Z.So donot underestimate it.
Keshin is great.But escaflowne or inuyasha definitely dont come close to DBZ.This is howevr only my personal opinion.
If u are thinking from storyline ,music and all those point of view kenshin ,FMA(I dont know) may beat DBZ.But in terms of pure raw action,DBZ is very very very hard to beat.

let me tell you i am in a similar situation.just where on earth do we get animax dubbed inuyasha
(the best series ever) animax dubbing seems so much better than ocean group one (compare kagome voice
(monica stori) to animax’s one and you will know what true professionelism in voice acting is)
sadly i dont even know voice artist’s name of animax.
if someone by any chance can get me links of those eps it will be highly appreciated.
i already have eps in jap and poor eng(cn adult swim dub) and some eps in portugese haaahaaa.

one more thing dbz aint worth watching. this you will realize after watching other 270 eps from dbz and 70+ eps of dbgt. many anime lover share same opinion. even i used to like dbz.

1.inuyasha
2.samurai x (ova animation is good but story is not written by original manga writer)
3.trigun
4.samurai champaloo(it will never be shown due to indian censorship)
5.hellsing (same problem)
6.maison ikkoku (another romantic creation of rumiko takahasi)
