I simply replaced Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware (which has been going downhill for a long time in my opinion) with Microsoft Antispyware.

Microsoft’s Antispyware will not be free very soon. Also it is a beta product from Microsoft. Need I say more

Anti-Spyware: I run Spybot Search and Destroy and Grisoft’s (formerly Ewido) anti-spyware available from the same place as their AVG anti-virus:

Browsers: Opera (for performance and sheer usefulness in organizing research thanks to some killer features) and Firefox (for sites which Opera doesn’t run)
