Try: õ :
mysql -e status|grep 'Server version' mysql - ̸ Ȳ | grep ' '

If that doesn't work then use: ذ ʴ :
mysql -u root -p -e status|grep 'Server version' mysql - u Ʈ - p - ̸ Ȳ | grep ' '
Provide root password when prompted. ޽ ǥõǸ Ʈ ȣ մϴ. Default root password for MySQL is empty string, so just pressing enter when prompted for password will suffice by default. ⺻ Ʈ ȣ mysql ڿ, ׷ ׳ ȣ Է϶ ޽ Ÿ ⺻ մϴ.

Windows users should simply run: ϰ Ѵ :
mysql -e status mysql - ̸
or the equivalent with login specified and then look for Server version string in the output to find the version. Ȥ ̿ ϴ α ϰ ãִ ڿ ãմϴ.
