I recently started exploring a rather alarming phenomenon, which was there all along but has very recently been highlighted to me. Let’s say a person has been attacked by members of a particular community. Digamos que una persona ha sido atacada por miembros de una comunidad en particular. The normal reaction I would have expected is general condemnation of the attack even from the members of the same community. La reacción normal me habría esperado es general condena del ataque incluso de los miembros de la misma comunidad. However it is actually being justified and further threats are being given, members of that community are lamenting that the murder attempt wasn’t successful and life-threats and legal threats are being given to the victim. Sin embargo, es en realidad está justificada y nuevas amenazas se están dado, los miembros de esa comunidad están lamentando que el atentado no tuvo éxito y la vida-las amenazas y las amenazas legales se está dando a la víctima. What is wrong with this picture? ¿Qué hay de malo con esta imagen? I explored in more details with some members of the community and came with a shocking realization. The general sentiment was that the murder attempt was justified because the victim has decided to speak against the community (to which she initially belonged by birth). El sentimiento general fue que el intento de asesinato se justifica porque la víctima ha decidido intervenir en contra de la comunidad (a la que inicialmente pertenecía por nacimiento). Her crime was exercising her freedom of expression and her feminism! Su delito era el ejercicio de su libertad de expresión y su feminismo!

There is a serious problem with such mindset and actions. No es un problema grave con tal mentalidad y las acciones. Say for example someone is against the males or even against me. Diga, por ejemplo, alguien está en contra de los hombres o incluso en contra de mí. Does that give me the right to kill her? ¿Que me dan el derecho a matar a ella? Surely not! Seguramente no! Shouldn’t the same logic be applicable to a community? En caso de que no es la misma lógica se aplica a una comunidad? And then let’s look at the bigger picture. Y luego, veamos el panorama más amplio.

Let’s say members of that community (let’s name them A for the sake of this discussion) are intolerant towards members of other communities (say B and C). Digamos que los miembros de esa comunidad (dejar el nombre de una de ellas la causa de esta discusión) son intolerantes hacia miembros de otras comunidades (por ejemplo B y C). Does that give the members of the other communities, following the warped logic of A, the right to kill members of community A? ¿Que le dan a los miembros de otras comunidades, a raíz de la deformada lógica de la A, el derecho a matar a miembros de una comunidad?

If we as a humanity follow this extremely dangerous logic then humanity will soon cease to exist in every way. Si nosotros, como una humanidad siga esta lógica extremadamente peligrosa entonces la humanidad pronto dejará de existir en todos los sentidos. We wouldn’t need Malthusian catastrophe to check population. Nosotros no necesitamos catástrofe maltusiana, para comprobar la población. The remaining few will be truly devoid of any humanity. Los restantes serán pocos realmente carece de toda la humanidad.

The right to live is a fundamental right. El derecho a vivir es un derecho fundamental. Closely along it comes the right to speech & expression. Muy a lo largo de lo que se refiere el derecho a voz y expresión. Any civilized society should not only honor the right to live but also the right to speech & expression. Cualquier sociedad civilizada, no sólo debe honrar el derecho a vivir, sino también el derecho a voz y expresión. However for the sake of argument let’s say if someone abuses the right to speech & expression, that doesn’t give others the right to end his life. Sin embargo, en aras de la argumentación podemos decir si alguien los abusos del derecho a voz y expresión, que no da a otros el derecho a terminar con su vida. That was done during the dark ages of Europe and during the British rule in India (Jallianwala Bagh massacre for example). Eso se hizo durante los oscuros años de edad y Europa durante la dominación británica en la India (masacre de Jallianwala Bagh, por ejemplo). However that isn’ta mark of a civilized society. Sin embargo, esta no es una marca de una sociedad civilizada. It is barbarism, plain and simple. Es la barbarie, llano y simple. Any goverment that supports such action by any community (A, B or C) isn’t fit to rule either. Cualquier gobierno que apoya esta acción de cualquier comunidad (A, B o C) no es apto para gobernar bien.
