After 8 months I restarted by old faithful PC with a new internet provider (Reliance). Après 8 mois, j'ai remis par d'anciens fidèles PC avec un nouveau fournisseur d'accès à Internet (Reliance). I found that I can access websites using their IP address, yet cannot access them using their name like www.yahoo.com. J'ai trouvé que je peux accéder à des sites Web en utilisant leur adresse IP, mais ne peuvent pas y accéder en utilisant leur nom comme www.yahoo.com. Interestingly nslookup worked giving me the proper IP address! Nslookup travaillé intéressant de me donner la bonne adresse IP!
The stop-gap solution was to add to my hosts file, which isn’t very comfortable. Le palliatif solution consiste à ajouter à mon fichier hosts, ce qui n'est pas très confortable. The DNS client service was running properly, so what gives? Le DNS est le service à la clientèle fonctionner correctement, ce qui donne de façon?

I realized that I had set the DHCP client service to manual. Je me suis rendu compte que j'avais mis le service client DHCP sur manuel. On starting it, everything was back to normal. Au départ, tout était de retour à la normale. Can anyone explain why they have code which requires DHCP client service to be running to do DNS lookups? Quelqu'un peut-il expliquer pourquoi ils ont code qui exige le service client DHCP pour fonctionner à faire les requêtes DNS sur? If nslookup can do it, why not DNS client service? Si nslookup peut le faire, pourquoi pas DNS service à la clientèle?

BTW: Reliance famed 114Kbps connection speed is actually 20Kbps, slower than my modem! BTW: Reliance célèbre 114Kbps vitesse de connexion est en fait 20Kbps, plus lent que mon modem! So much for the hype. Voilà pour le battage.
