LONDON - From being the oldest person on networking sites Twitter and Facebook, Ivy Bean has now become the oldest swigger too at the age of 103.

After a wild weekend party with four pals aged 73 to 90, Bean posted pictures on the Internet of herself swigging from a bottle of champagne as she sat in her wheelchair.

"Days out weren't like this when I was young - my mum would have gone crackers!" the Sun quoted teetotal Bean, who was pretending to neck bubbly, as joking.

Bean was taken from the care home where she lives in Bradford, West Yorks, for a three-day trip to Blackpool, and her pals, Norma Furniff, 73, Anna Rhodes, 90, Mabel Davies, 87, and Eileen Metcalf, 83, went as well.

The group was pictured with younger revellers in Blackpool wearing pink "Chicks on Tour" cowboy hats, and the girls loved posing with youngsters partying at the Lancashire resort.

Bean had first visited Blackpool with her late husband Harold in 1941, when she was 35.

"It's changed incredibly. There are a lot more young people out enjoying themselves - so we thought we'd do the same. The weekend was one big party, it was smashing," she said.

Care home manager Patricia Wright added: "They are already planning their next visit. People were screaming and shouting at them." (ANI)
