No Good Deed Goes Unpunished with Spammers
I send GMail account invitation to anyone who asks for it.
So when I received yet another request for GMail invitation today I wasn't too surprised. The message was innocuous and definitely not from a bot.
Habitually I check the websites of whoever comments on my site. This wasn't an exception.
Imagine my surprise when I realized the URL was a spam domain which was furthermore trying to download their application on my machine and without my permission. So I thought maybe he made a mistake with the URL and went to his email domain next. The same routine; more dangerous.
Not only does he want to infect my system but also that of my visitors who out of curiosity wants to visit his site following his links. Such people never ceases to amaze me.
I am thankful to Firefox for saving the day. If it had been Internet Explorer…
