October 27th, 2005 Nigerian 419 scammers anthem is titled - "I Go Chop Your Dollars". It aired few months ago as a CD penned by Osofia and is hugely popular in Lagos: "419 is just a game, you are the losers, we are the winners.

August 12th, 2007 Now I have seen it all. I received a nigerian scam as a comment spam on my blog.

October 27th, 2005 Now Nigerian scammers are selling cellphones with lucrative prices, all major brands. You can call them in Lagos to verify their existence or whatever.

January 7th, 2008 You can safely delete any messages contains with: "correspondence may come to you as a surprise due to the fact that we have not met" This appears to be an often repeated phrase of nigerian scammers these days and is worth searching for in content of your emails for direct deletion (nuke).

August 30th, 2007 Imagine that you have received a notification from a Bank that you are the lucky recipient of a beneficiary fund. What would be the bank you can absolutely trust, even with your life? You guessed it...

August 26th, 2006 Today I received a 419 scam email with a difference. It speaks of "genuine love".

June 20th, 2006 Robert Knowlton, an avid eBay user, bought a pair of slippers from a very reputable dealer on eBay. Soon after he got an e-mail that looked like it was from the dealer where he bought the slippers.

April 17th, 2005 I received an email today from the infamous Nigerian scammers. This time it was a job offer for financial manager and it ends with a hilarious disclaimer.

I AM ELVIS ATA THE ONLY CHILD OF LATE MR THOMAS ATA, MY FATHER WAS A VERY WEALTHY COCOA MERCHANT IN BOUAKE COTE DIVOIRE, BEFORE HE WAS SHOT BY THE REBELS ON ONE OF THEIR OUTING TO DISCUSS ON A BUSINESS.

October 7th, 2005 The Internet entrepreneurs of Nigeria received Ig Nobel prize this year "for creating and then using e-mail to distribute a bold series of short stories, thus introducing millions of readers to a cast of rich characters -- General Sani Abacha, Mrs. Mariam Sanni Abacha, Barrister Jon A Mbeki Esq." The scams (also known as 419 scams) are notorious for asking people to reveal their private bank information to help fictitious characters transfer large sums of money.

March 22nd, 2005 A year back I posted a case study on how to deal with a spammer about Richard Milford, a stupid spammer and scam artist. The case was quoted by Plaxo as I dealt with them to get him (Richard Milford the stupid spammer) removed from their system.

July 7th, 2006 Today I received an email from Sudhir Thirumurthy [sagthirumurthy@fastermail.com] with a subject which screamed 419 scam. However I hadn't received any from Singapore and by someone who is clearly of Indian origin.

November 12th, 2007 I am sick and tired of Yahoo Messenger Spam initiated primarily by Myfreecamhost and now joined by few new initiates too. Everyday, at the most inppropriate times I will get one or more messages from Yahoo Messenger asking me to watch some random female's webcam on myfreecamhost for free (obviously scam).
