Microsoft had long announced beta version of the second service pack for Windows Vista and Server 2008 will be out in the market. But in the late October, we didn't see anything like that excepting some private distributions. Now Microsoft is finally coming public with it from tomorrow. The releases will be distributed via TechNet.

According to them, this service pack won't hold any significant difference to the other but some really needed bug fixes. It will concentrate upon two things mainly.

  1. Support for new hardware, as well as support for new standards and technologies.
  2. It also delivers improvements made based on data collected through Microsoft's voluntary Customer Experience Improvement Program.

So let's look at the package contents now.

  • Windows Vista SP2 adds Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches.
  • Windows Vista SP2 contains the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology.
  • Ability to record data on to Blu-Ray media natively in Windows Vista.
  • Adds Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration.
  • Windows Vista SP2 enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones.

Let's just hope that it will make Windows Vista a better place for some of the Windows crazy fans. Because they really had a tough them convincing themselves on their previous stand.
