So at last, however small it be, Microsoft tastes victory over Google in the internet market. Reportedly, they have become the default search engine on Dells entire range of computers. The three-year agreement, which kicks off in February, displaces an existing search deal that Google had with Dell.

Microsoft is hoping that the inclusion of Windows Live Search will give the software maker a foot-up in its battle to supplant Google as the number one used search engine in the world. Which is significantly smaller than what Google has at this moment.

I wonder at the decision of Dell though. I know its tough times for all the companies. But what sort of decision was that? Or is it just that, Dell is so sure of people will choose the best for themselves, they don't give a damn to what they are providing people with initially! To top that, Dell gets a good sum of money for this contract as well. Otherwise is there any logic?

Dell machines will also come pre-installed with Windows Live Essentials, a software package that includes Microsoft’s instant messenger application, mail client, photo gallery and movie maker application.
