Indian Prime Minister prepares for Ultimate Luxury Jet while common-man toils under his new Tax for cash withdrawals
Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, is all set to reject his executive Boeing Jet in favor of Legacy Executive Jet from Embraer, a Brazillian company.
According to a top official in defence ministry (as quoted in Anandabazar Patrika) Legacy Executive Jet is the last word in luxury within Executive Jet category.
India is buying five such executive jets from Embraer. The luxurious jets will also be available to the President, Defence Minister, Home Minister and other such VVIPs. Good for them.
And each of them costs India around 100 crore (1 billion) rupees.
And guess how the common man pays for such prime ministerial and politicians luxuries?
By paying the newly introduced withdrawal tax. If you want to withdraw 25, 000 Rs (~ 555$) or more of your own money from your current account in any Bank, for say medical expenses or family requirements, you will have to pay government a tax of 0.1%. I don't know if such tax exists in any civilized countries around the world. In the guise of catching black-money common man is actively being persecuted by the government.
Such persecution of common man when the politicians themselves thrive in luxury and often accumulate immense personal wealth exploiting their position and power makes me very sad.
Every day I open the paper to find how politicians often from the ruling party (whether in centre or in states) exploit their position in power to exploit and persecute common man and acumulate gains for themselves.
Is this the future-India for which thousands of patriots died; hundreds of thousands of Mother's lost their child, their means of survival?
I am proud of India, proud to be an Indian. However I feel ashamed by our politicians.
