How To Stop Yahoo Instant Messenger Spam

November 12th, 2007 I am sick and tired of Yahoo Messenger Spam initiated primarily by Myfreecamhost and now joined by few new initiates too. Everyday, at the most inppropriate times I will get one or more messages from Yahoo Messenger asking me to watch some random female's webcam on myfreecamhost for free (obviously scam).

November 5th, 2007 Yahoo Instant Messenger isn't directly available on Linux. However there are several alternatives.

November 5th, 2007 Either Yahoo! Messenger sponsors spammers (not that would surprise me) or Myfreecamhost has found a loophole in Yahoo Instant Messenger. I am daily receiving half a dozen, most likely automated, Yahoo instant messages from various random email id's on myfreecamhost.

October 23rd, 2005 After my ill-fated attempt to use latest version of Yahoo Instant Messenger (The Malware), I manually removed all traces of Yahoo Instant Messenger from my system. One thing however persisted - their search engine plugin for Firefox.

December 24th, 2008 Yahoo has reportedly stopped developing any version of yahoo messenger for Windows Vista. Though it was officially confirmed on 24th Oct, 2008, we were still thinking that it is another of a warning that will not be put to effect.

March 22nd, 2006 Yahoo lanuched a service to provide local telephone number for $2.99 per month. The calls will have to be initiated from a PC, but can be made to traditional landline phones and cellphones.

July 8th, 2005 I received a strange comment (spam) from an user nicknamed John complimenting this blog. He provided his web address as www.yahoo.com and gave his email as john@yahoo.com.

June 24th, 2006 Google is massively pushing its web browser toolbar everywhere around the world. Google has agreed to pay a "significant amount" to have Google toolbar bundled with select Adobe downloads.

February 22nd, 2007 Comment Guard 0.3 Beta is a bug fix release. Very occassionally the plugin would request a valid commenter to submit his comment again.

December 31st, 2005 F-Secure claims that the latest "leaked" beta of the IM client might not be what it seems. It is a virus in disguise.

January 14th, 2009 When you or someone else enters an incorrect login multiple times then Yahoo! locks the account for security reasons and you are unable to access your chat names for the messenger also losing your only time for entertainment. Isn't it frustrating? Don't worry, now there is a method by which you can log into a locked Yahoo account.

April 14th, 2009 Yahoo messenger has been one of the most popular and feature-ful online chat clients the world has seen. With plenty of options and buddies around, you can not just leave Yahoo Messenger once you have grown used to it.

December 20th, 2007 Ever since we installed Comment Guard Pro, anti comment-spam plugin on this blog, it stopped over 1 millon spam comments (1001011 spam comments were blocked by Angsuman's Comment Guard plugin in 335 days 8 hours 38 minutes. 99.338 % of the comments received during this time were spam.) so far (look in the right sidebar for latest stats).

September 7th, 2005 Yahoo (with their Instant Messenger product), in apparent desperation, is treading the fine line between adware/malware and legitimate software. I think it has crossed the line.
