Thanks for this info, although today - march 2009 - it may be out-of-date. There’s a slightly different type of spam I’d like you to comment on: those offering something legit for sale, supposedly originating in some “@sillyname.com” but using a @gmail account for sales contact. All I’ve denounced answer something like “this doesn’t originate from a real account” and drop it, yet the real abuser seems to be the gmail account holder

Will gmail help us stop gmail users from sending bogus info requests from our third party website? What the gmail users don’t realize is that their info request from our website utilized their gmail email address to send the request thru so we see their actual gmail email address. The info requests are filled out with random letters and characters that are not any language.
