Google Revenue Doubles; Is AdSense Program Coming to an End?
Advertising from Google and its network partners sites displaying its ads accounted for most of the company's earnings.
Google posted revenues of $1.578 billion for the quarter ending September 30, 2005, up 96% from the third quarter of 2004.
Shouldn't its partner sites get some share of it too?
Interestingly revenue from Google-owned sites grew at a rate of 20% during the quarter, faster than the 7% growth in revenue generated through partner sites.
This could indicate a future where Google either stops the AdSense program for public or more likely restrict it to few selected individuals or companies who return higher value than what Google can produce with its own sites like GMail or Orkut.
What do you think?
Update: The recent Google policy of allowing advertisers to target specifically search or content category along with SmartPricing further adds credence to my suspicion.

I have Google Ads on a few of my websites and I do agree it’d be nice to see some of those profits translated into higher payouts for each Google Ad click on my sites.
However, I highly doubt Google would drop or limit their AdSense program. Yahoo! and MSN are currently running Beta programs of their own versions of contexual ads, and that is in direct response to the success of Google Adsense. So if Google dropped some of their existing partners, they’d practically be giving money to Yahoo! and Microsoft.
