Google Pages Introduced and Withdrawn

February 27th, 2006 Google has newly introduced Google Pages which allows you to create your webpages with AJAX interface (Web 2.0?). It is quite a slick product, provides 100MB of space, file uploading etc.

April 13th, 2005 Nowadays I have noticed that Google apparently confers pagerank only to the front page of the blog. All other pages appear to have a rank of zero! I have noticed it across a wide spectrum of blogs, even blogs with very high pageranks.

January 9th, 2008 Google dutifully provides a forum for each product / API they launch. They also graciously decided to display 3 recent articles from their forum on their highly ranked product page.

July 21st, 2006 Accessible Search is a Google Labs product which will identify and prioritize search results that are more easily usable by blind and visually impaired users. Regular Google search helps you find a set of documents that are most relevant.

February 23rd, 2008 I recently came across an instance of Google Proxy hacking with one of my clients, which removed his index page and other pages from SERP (Search Engine Ranking & Positioning) and he lost the page ranks (went down to zero). We were asked to protect his site against Google Proxy hacking, a really dangerous technique which can not only cause you to loose page rank but also remove your pages from SERP, all because Google cannot properly identify original pages from duplicates.

April 12th, 2005 Site Owners often detest the fact that google caches an old copy of their site and displays it on searches which brings up the site pages. A simple way to prevent robots (including Google, Yahoo etc.) from caching your site contents is to include the following within the head section of your web page.

January 8th, 2008 It has been several hours since Google search went down. Google services on google.com domain, including but not limited to GMail or Google Analytics, Google Adsense etc., are down too while blogsearch.google.com is up and running.

April 8th, 2009 On a rather unceremonious way, Google has increased the Competitive link Filter for Google Adsense to 500. They haven't gone official about it as yet.

April 5th, 2008 TechCrunch got it from a source that Google plans to launch their BigTable, their proprietary internal database which is used for Google Search, as a web service to compete with Amazon SimpleDB Web Service. Bigtable is a distributed storage system for managing structured data that is designed to scale to a very large size: petabytes of data across thousands of commodity servers at Google.
