May 23rd, 2006 Google Inc. will begin distributing online video ads later this week, diversifying beyond the static text ad messages that generate most of its profits today. Video ads, announced late Monday, will affect thousands of Web sites that rely on Google AdSense to post contextual ads on a web page.

August 21st, 2006 A Chinese blogger finds Google.com inaccessible around 60% of the time whereas Google.cn is perfectly accessible. Is it coincidence or intetnional? Is Google intentionally blocking Google.com in China and providing intermittent access instead of outright banning to prevent backlash from internet community & activists.

April 5th, 2008 TechCrunch got it from a source that Google plans to launch their BigTable, their proprietary internal database which is used for Google Search, as a web service to compete with Amazon SimpleDB Web Service. Bigtable is a distributed storage system for managing structured data that is designed to scale to a very large size: petabytes of data across thousands of commodity servers at Google.

October 26th, 2006 I have been in an interesting discussion with a very high profile client when Google Search came up. One recurring thought which came up was how the apparent strength of Google search, that made it the number one search engine, is its very weakness in several industries.
