Google Happy Loser in Wireless Spectrum Licenses

October 6th, 2009 Verizon Wireless, Google in Android partnershipNEW YORK — Verizon Wireless said Tuesday it will put substantial resources into developing and selling phones that use Google Inc.'s Android software. Verizon Wireless had already said it would sell Android phones, but the announcement suggests that the carrier is positioning these "smart" phones as a main means of competing with Apple Inc.'s iPhone, which is exclusive to AT&T Inc.

March 15th, 2005 A laptop from Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles was stolen with unencrypted data exposing personal information of more then 8, 900 Southern Nevada residents. By personal information I mean everything - name, age, DOB, SSN, photographs and signatures of residents who obtained drivers licenses between November 25th and March 4th.

March 2nd, 2006 In a rather sad story a Googler (Google employee) narrates his misery with paltry salary and poor chance of a raise. Apparently in Google you can get a raise (merely 5-8%) with only a promotion.

May 16th, 2007 I got a ping from Google India's R&D department. They are looking for leadership role and were apparently quite impressed with my online resume; which hasn't been updated for about 5 years or more.

January 8th, 2008 It has been several hours since Google search went down. Google services on google.com domain, including but not limited to GMail or Google Analytics, Google Adsense etc., are down too while blogsearch.google.com is up and running.

April 13th, 2005 Nowadays I have noticed that Google apparently confers pagerank only to the front page of the blog. All other pages appear to have a rank of zero! I have noticed it across a wide spectrum of blogs, even blogs with very high pageranks.

March 12th, 2009 LONDON - Music lovers who are addicted to watching online videos on Youtube will not be able to do so anymore as Google has blocked viewings after a dispute over licensing. Google had started blocking UK viewers from watching "premium music videos" from the night of March 9.
