Google's main aim with this application is to take the experience of reading news online, to a different level; through this [service] they claim, the experience of reading online news would be much similar to that of reading news papers and magazines in real life.

Google is slated to monetize this service by providing advertisements surrounding the news articles; they would be going for a revenue sharing model of business with their partner-publishers. Critics though are pointing out that for the service to be a real winner, Google would have to promptly think of offering news from more sources, as news from limited publications won't be of much use for the tech savvy generation of today.
