November 29th, 2005 With the merger of WebWork and Struts now it is crystal clear that our beloved (not to speak bad about the dead) java web framework is no more with us. It's parts will however be salvaged and added to WebWork.

July 7th, 2006 Finally my (unmanaged dedicated) server has been deployed (under 48 hours). Now my actual work begins.

May 15th, 2007 I faced an extremely weird problem of ghost DNS lookups on machines configured as NFS clients. It took quite an effort to solve it.

August 12th, 2007 One of the main challenges of managing multiple dedicated web / database servers is the ability to centrally monitor and manage them, automate tasks which requires out-of-band access like rebooting the server or find out if the server is dying and arrange for replacement ahead of time etc. Unless you are a very big web service provider, chances are you are using dedicated servers from one or more of dedicated web hosting providers.

September 11th, 2007 I morally support BadVista campaign in as much as it helps educate people that: 1. Windows Vista is actually a downgrade (from Windows XP or Windows 2000) wherein you are forced to support DRM (for content producers) at your expense (CPU & Memory) forcing you to upgrade your hardware just to get reasonable performance out of Windows Vista (cost analysis).

September 24th, 2007 I have significantly improved our site performance in the last month. I did all the site optimization steps by the book, found a lot of new things and fine-tuned existing ideas.

October 19th, 2005 With its latest release of the software, Apache announced that Geronimo 1.0-M5 Java application server has passed all the compatibility tests and has gained official J2EE1.4 certification of the Java server software standard. Apache Geronimo 1.0-M5 is completely integrated with the Tomcat Web server and includes a developer preview of web management console submitted to Apache by IBM.

January 5th, 2007 taragana.com domains (including this site - blog.taragana.com) was using ZoneEdit as DNS Servers. I started using their service while transitioning from VPS hosting to the current dedicated hosting.
