I tested several file compression programs like zip, gzip, arj, bzip2, jar etc for compressing big files. الملف الاول اختبار ضغط عدة برامج مثل الرمز البريدي ، gzip ، ARJ ، bzip2 ، وما جره كبيرة لضغط الملفات. The corpus constituted 5 POI generated Microsoft Excel documents totaling 298.8 MB. وقد شكلت مجموعة 5 البوي ولدت وثائق مايكروسوفت أكسل ليبلغ 298،8 ميغابايت. And there is a clear winner! وهناك فائز واضح!

About the data عن البيانات
The file excel documents were standard corporate data of a very big corporation (read Fortune 500). ملف اكسل وثائق موحدة للبيانات الشركات كبير جدا ، شركة (اقرأ 500). There is nothing special about the data as such, regular text data in excel files. وليس هناك شيء خاص عن هذه البيانات ، بيانات النص العاديه في ملفات اكسل. For obvious reasons I cannot share the data for independent verifications. لأسباب واضحة ، لا استطيع ان تقاسم البيانات المستقلة للتحقق.

Archive formats not tested أرشيف الاشكال لا اختبار
I haven't tested two popular file formats - rar & 7zip as they aren't easily available on Linux. انني لم اختبر اثنين الشعبية تنسيقات الملفات -- rar & 7zip كما انها ليست متاحة بسهولة على لينكس.

Test Notes اختبار تلاحظ
The File Roller archive manager which ships with Gnome UI on Linux provides even better bzip2 compression than bzip2 -9! الملف الرول ارشيف مدير السفن التي تمثال مع واجهة المستخدم على لينكس بشكل افضل حتى من bzip2 ضغط bzip2 -9!
bzip2 -9 compressed to 12 MB. bzip2 -9 مضغوط الى 12 ميغابايت.

I also tried .tar.zip which was the worst. كما انني حاولت. Tar.zip التي هي اسوأ.

All the file formats took comparable times but then I tested them on a Core 2 Duo 6600 with 2 GB RAM and RAID 1 SATA drives جميع تنسيقات الملفات احاطت مقارنة مرات ولكن بعد ذلك اختبارها الأول منها على جوهر 2 الثنائى 6600 مع رام 2 غيغابايت ومحركات اقراص ساتا الغاره 1 :)
As such the results do not speculate about performance. على هذا النحو نتائج لا يمكن التكهن عن الاداء.

All the compressed files were tested for accuracy of data. جميع الملفات المضغوطه لاختبار دقة البيانات.

This shows all popular compression algorithms are on the same level with the sole exception of bzip2, which stands leagues ahead of the rest. وهذا يدل على جميع خوارزميات الضغط الشعبي على نفس المستوى مع استثناء وحيد هو bzip2 ، التي تقف امامنا لرابطات للبقية. The clear winner of compression algorithms is bzip2. واضح للفائز في خوارزميات الضغط هو bzip2.
