November 16th, 2007 Lenovo (formerly IBM division) announced very good price for Lenovo H Series (531188Q) Desktop with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2140 (1.6 GHZ), 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD and 17" Flat CRT monitor. E2140 Mini Review E2140 processor has 1MB L2 cache at 1.6Ghz speed.

June 7th, 2006 Intel officially launched its first Broadwater chipset, the P965 Express. It is pitched at the upcoming Core 2 Duo dual-core processor - 'Conroe' operating on a 1066MHz frontside bus.

March 10th, 2006 The company said the new chip for server computers, called Woodcrest, would offer an 80 percent performance improvement and require 35 percent less power; the Conroe chip for desktop computers, which will be released later in the year, will offer 40 percent performance improvement and require 40 percent less power. April 29th, 2007 I started using dual monitors (SyncMaster 740N) on Linux (Fedora Core 6) about a month back on my new dream computer. I used GeForce 6200 LE with 256 MB RAM which provides for dual monitors with a VGA and DVI output.

March 8th, 2007 I have been evaluating both Xubuntu and Fedora Core along with Cent OS (Open Source version / fork of Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition). The key value and differences between these releases are: Xubuntu Xubuntu is definitely faster to use in general due to its light-weight Xfce desktop interface.

September 3rd, 2007 I currently use RAID1 with LVM on Fedora Core including RAID 1 on boot partition. This provides a fully redundant storage system with the ability to expand volume size in future.

June 6th, 2007 Our DSL link, provided by BSNL (aka World's crappiest broadband service), was down yesterday causing enormous hardship. However today when it came back up, I could connect it using Windows (yeah, we still have couple of spare laptops lying around) but not on Linux.
